If you've ever wished for deeper friendships, a greater sense of purpose, or the courage to reinvent your life, you're in the right place.
After spending eight years building one of the largest women's communities in Florida, I've had thousands of conversations with women navigating divorce, widowhood, retirement, empty nesting, relocation, career changes, and the quiet feeling that life is calling them toward something more.
What I've learned is this: we don't thrive in isolation. We thrive through connection.
Each week, we'll explore the power of friendship, community, purpose, and reinvention through honest conversations, practical ideas, inspiring stories, and the lessons I've learned bringing women together.
Whether you're looking for your people, creating your next chapter, or dreaming about making a difference in your own community, this podcast will encourage you to take the next step.
Because the life you're looking for often begins with one conversation.

juliemarvel.substack.com

Julie Marvel

Julie Marvel

en

juliemarvel@substack.com
<itunes:new-feed-url>https://api.substack.com/feed/podcast/8940783.rss</itunes:new-feed-url><itunes:author>Julie Marvel</itunes:author><itunes:subtitle>For women navigating life's transitions - divorced, widowed, empty nesters, relocated, or feeling called to your next chapter, Julie Marvel is a community builder, speaker, and educator helping women reinvent and find meaning, purpose & community.</itunes:subtitle><itunes:type>episodic</itunes:type><itunes:owner><itunes:name>Julie Marvel</itunes:name><itunes:email>juliemarvel@substack.com</itunes:email></itunes:owner><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:category text="Education"><itunes:category text="Self-Improvement"/></itunes:category><itunes:category text="Society & Culture"><itunes:category text="Personal Journals"/></itunes:category><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/8940783/a9d22fbd3aae47b619c445de733a9377.jpg"/>

The Friendship We All Need

This is a public episode. After a major life transition, it’s easy to lose confidence in your own instincts. Whether you’ve experienced divorce, grief, an empty nest, retirement, or simply feel like you’ve lost your direction, rebuilding trust in yourself is one of the most important steps toward creating a meaningful next chapter.

In this episode, I share why so many women stop trusting themselves and how to begin finding that inner confidence again. We talk about quieting the outside noise, letting go of the need for constant advice and approval, and learning to hear your own wisdom. Trust isn’t built by making perfect decisions. It’s built one small choice at a time as you prove to yourself that you can handle whatever comes next.

In this episode, you’ll discover:

• Why life transitions often cause us to question ourselves• How outside opinions can drown out your own inner voice• The importance of slowing down, journaling, and creating quiet space• Why keeping promises to yourself builds lasting confidence• Simple ways to begin trusting yourself again, one decision at a time

If this episode encouraged you, I’d love for you to subscribe to The Julie Marvel Podcast and leave a review. I had spent years building a life around my family, and suddenly I was asking the same questions so many women ask during life’s biggest transitions: Who am I now? Where do I belong? And how do I start over?

I had no idea that one small decision would eventually change the course of my life.

This is the beginning of the story behind how a lonely woman looking for connection eventually built a community that brought thousands of women together, and the lessons I learned along the way.

If you’ve ever felt lonely, disconnected, or wondered if it’s too late to begin again, I hope this series reminds you that your next chapter may be closer than you think.

This is a public episode. As women, we are so beautifully practiced at holding everything together, acting as the caretakers, the organizers, and the pillars of strength for everyone else. But sometimes, that polished exterior accidentally becomes a wall that keeps out the very connections we are craving.

Join Julie as she pulls back the curtain on why connection rarely begins with perfection, how one honest moment can transform a room full of strangers, and how to gently let your guard down so your people can finally find you.

Key Takeaways From This Episode

The Perfection Paradox: People don’t actually connect with our polished successes; they connect with our shared humanity.

The Power of Going First: Everyone in the room is usually hoping for a real connection while carefully protecting themselves from being seen. Real intimacy begins when someone chooses to be honest first.

Healthy Vulnerability vs. Over-sharing: True vulnerability isn't about exposing your deepest secrets to strangers. It’s simply having the courage to say, "You know what? This season has been a little hard."

Breaking Down the Walls: How our greatest strengths—being hyper-capable and dependable—can inadvertently isolate us during major midlife transitions like divorce, relocation, or an empty nest.

Connect & Take Your Next Step

🌟 Join Us This Wednesday: Your Next Chapter Live

You do not have to navigate life's big transitions or figure out your next chapter all by yourself. This Wednesday, we are gathering on Zoom for a live, face-to-face conversation with an incredible group of women who are navigating reinvention right alongside you. What started as a simple lunch with a few women eventually grew into a community of thousands. Along the way, I had the opportunity to sit across from women from all walks of life and hear their stories.

What surprised me most was how similar many of those stories were. Women who appeared to have everything together were often carrying private struggles. Some were navigating divorce, some were facing an empty nest, some were grieving, retiring, relocating, or simply wondering what was next for them. Again and again, I heard women express the same feelings of loneliness, uncertainty, and the desire for deeper connection.

I also talk about one of my favorite programs we created called What's Your Story. Women would courageously share a challenging experience from their lives, and then we would break into small groups for meaningful conversations. Those discussions created a space where women felt safe enough to be honest about what they were going through.

What happened in those rooms was remarkable. Women realized they weren't alone. They discovered that others had faced similar challenges, asked similar questions, and carried many of the same fears. Friendships formed, healing began, and women often left feeling lighter simply because someone finally understood what they had been carrying.

One of the greatest lessons from those years is that there is incredible power in being seen, heard, and understood. Sometimes the thing we need most is not advice. It's connection. It's knowing there are other women walking a similar path.

If you're going through a transition right now, I hope this episode reminds you that you're not the only one trying to figure things out. Whatever chapter you're in, there are other women asking the same questions and looking for the same sense of purpose, belonging, and hope.

If this conversation resonates with you, I would love to invite you to join me for Your Next Chapter Live, a free online event for women navigating life's transitions.

Whether you're moving through divorce, an empty nest, retirement, relocation, grief, caregiving, or simply feeling called toward something new, this conversation is for you. We'll talk about what it means to begin again, how to move forward with confidence, and why connection is often the key to creating a meaningful next chapter.

You can reserve your free spot here:

Link]https://www.stepintogracemedia.com/pl/2148794981

I hope you'll join me.

This is a public episode. What began as a small lunch gathering eventually grew into a community, but the real gift has always been the conversations. Conversations about relationships, motherhood, friendship, loss, purpose, reinvention, and all the unexpected twists that life brings.

One thing I've learned is that so many women quietly believe they're the only one struggling. The only one feeling lonely after a move. The only one wondering who they are after their children leave home. The only one questioning what's next after retirement, divorce, or a major life change.

The truth is that transitions are difficult, even when we see them coming. We can spend years preparing for a new chapter and still feel unsettled when it finally arrives. Letting go of a role, a relationship, a routine, or a version of ourselves is rarely easy. Yet these moments often become the very experiences that shape us into who we're meant to become next.

In this episode, I share some of the lessons I've learned from witnessing the courage and resilience of women in every season of life. If you find yourself in that uncertain space between who you were and who you're becoming, I hope this conversation reminds you that you are not alone, you are not behind, and you do not need to have all the answers today.

Sometimes a new chapter begins with something small. A new friendship. A new boundary. A new experience. A simple decision to believe that there is still more life ahead of you.

If this episode resonated with you, I would love for you to subscribe to The Julie Marvel Podcast and join me for future conversations about friendship, purpose, reinvention, and creating a meaningful life in midlife and beyond.

And if you're ready to take the first step toward your own next chapter, I invite you to watch my free Midlife Reset Webinar and download the companion workbook.
