Suzanne Schneider is an historian and political theorist of the modern Middle East and I couldn’t think of a better person to talk to about what is unfolding right now.

You don’t get to claim victim-hood while you are starting wars.

Two take-aways from Suzy:

* In an age in which this technology and knowledge is widely distributed across the globe, trying to bomb your way out of the problem of proliferation is a short term and ultimately losing strategy

* Israel is engineering the very insecurity it claims to oppose, every move makes it less and less secure by making a political settlement with the Palestinians and regional powers more and more remote
