Not as something to fix, but as something that needed to be met, listened to, and given space.

There’s a powerful thread here around anger — not as something to suppress, but as a life force. A signal. A boundary. A movement of energy that, when allowed, can actually support healing.

Katie Rose shares about the courage it took to speak her truth in her family, and how that moment became a turning point — not because it “solved everything,” but because it shifted her relationship to herself.

We talk about somatic experiencing, resourcing, and what it means to actually feel grounded in your body — not as an idea, but as something lived and practiced over time.

There’s also an honest look at resistance, fear, and the reality of doing this work while also holding space for others. The balance of being human and being in a role of support.

Toward the end, Katie Rose shares about her group mentorship, The Thriving Path, and how learning to trust flow — instead of controlling everything — continues to stretch and shape her.

This conversation isn’t about arriving somewhere.

It’s about learning how to be with what’s here.

The messy parts. The powerful parts. The parts that are still unfolding.

Check out Katie Rose’s website vibrant-way.com to learn more about her and her offerings.

If something in this conversation resonates with you…if you’re noticing there’s more beneath the surface that wants to be felt, explored, and understood…

I offer 1:1 shadow work sessions and breathwork experiencesto support you in connecting with your body, your emotions, and the deeper layers of yourself.

You can reach out to me directly,or explore more at moonmountainhealing.com

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>6596</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/192671760/72e8dd0d0cb54fe6ac7dc601d4d2e618.jpg"/>

Reclaiming Our Emotions

This isn’t about shaming anyone for disowning emotions. We all do it.But what I’ve noticed in my own journey—and in the work with others—is this reclamation of feeling… the whole gamut of it.And the energies of life demands to be felt. The more we resist, the more insidious the effects can become.I’m serious when I say how important it is to consciously move our emotions.“Let it go,” they say—but that, of course, isn't easy.Because to let go of what’s arising in the present moment, we have to go within and meet what’s still being held from the past. And that’s a deeply visceral experience—not just a mental one.In my work, we’re somatically based. We learn there’s a lot more happening beneath the surface—much of which relates to that underlying sense of unease.I needed a lot of support accessing this when I first began. And I still do at times. If you feel called to turn inward—to discover the core of what you’re feeling and who you are in relationship to all life has to offer—Then reach out.Let's do this together.moonmountainhealing.com

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>152</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/192045122/cba68c17e8a8c12d95398ea8bb614d02.jpg"/>

The Path to the 10,000 Human Points w/ Nathan

In this episode, I sit down with Nathan for a real, alive conversation that moves between play, depth, and honest reflection on what it means to be human.

We explore this idea of “becoming more human” — not as something to achieve or perfect, but as something we allow ourselves to soften into. The messy parts. The uncertain parts. The parts that still feel, still react, still don’t have it all figured out.

Along the way, we play with this idea of a “10,000 point human scale” — a lighthearted but surprisingly revealing way of looking at growth. Not as a finish line, but as an ongoing unfolding… where being more human doesn’t mean being perfect, but actually allowing more of your full experience to be here.

There’s a thread here around the desire to be “done” — to be healed, to be clear, to arrive somewhere — and the quiet realization that maybe the path isn’t about getting there at all.

Maybe it’s about learning how to be here.

We move through reflections on:

* Letting go of perfection and the pressure to “arrive”

* What “doing the work” actually means — and how it can become a weapon or a doorway

* The role of teachers, mentors, and learning to trust your own inner authority

* Accountability, self-awareness, and the felt sense of embodiment

* Sitting with not knowing, instead of reaching to escape it

There are moments of laughter, moments of pause, and moments where something deeper comes through — the kind of conversation that doesn’t try to perform, but instead lets itself unfold naturally.

At the core of it all:

You don’t need fixing. You don’t need to become someone else.

This is about learning how to be with yourself as you are—feeling what’s here, staying present, and living from a more honest, connected place.

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>7936</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/191933296/8bfdbba2906d227b64b6147d8029dbbb.jpg"/>

The Path of Embodied Shadow Work w/ Arin

In this episode of the Loving Forward Podcast, I sit down with my dear brother Arin for a heartfelt and wide-ranging conversation about shadow work, somatic awareness, and what it truly means to grow as a human being.

Aaron and I first connected through the Heart of Shadow program with Luke Adler and Jason Lange, and through that work we discovered a shared passion for exploring the deeper layers of the human experience. In this conversation we reflect on that journey and what continues to unfold through it.

We talk about the importance of reconnecting with the body in a world that encourages us to live almost entirely in the mind. So often we try to think our way through life, but the body is constantly offering us information, guidance, and truth if we are willing to listen.

We also explore the role of shadow work in becoming more whole — not as a path toward perfection, but as a practice of becoming more aware, more honest, and more compassionate with ourselves. The work is not about fixing who we are. It’s about unveiling the truth of who we are.

Throughout the conversation we reflect on the tension between striving to grow and learning to appreciate the stage of the journey we are currently in. The path of this work asks us to continually meet ourselves where we are — even when that place is uncertain, uncomfortable, or humbling.

Ultimately, we come back again and again to the heart of the matter:the more we learn to meet our own shadows with awareness and compassion, the more capacity we develop to meet the world — and each other — with Love.

This is a conversation about the process of becoming more human, more present, and more connected to the life that is already here.

If you feel called to explore this kind of work more deeply, you can connect with me below.

Explore the work:moonmountainhealing.com

Subscribe to the Loving Forward Chronicles:ohlalbritton.substack.com

Email:onehappylife@moonmountainhealing.com

If this episode resonates, please follow the podcast, leave a rating, and share it with someone who might benefit from the conversation.

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>4817</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/191158112/e1838460031bb78cbf6d1ea8ef00c08c.jpg"/>

The Path of The Integrated Man w/ Dustin

In this episode, I sit down with Dustin for a deep and honest exploration of men’s work, shadow integration, and what it means to move toward wholeness.

We begin with some light conversation and laughter, but before long we move into meaningful territory. We talk about how the younger parts of ourselves — even our three-year-old selves — continue shaping our relationships and behaviors today. We explore the difference between personal power and institutional power, and how many of the patterns we live inside of are ones we learned long ago and repeat until they are finally brought into Love and awareness.

Dustin shares about his recent experience at Heart of Shadow, including a powerful moment where he connected with his three-year-old self in a way he hadn’t before. From there we reflect on what it means to be sensitive people in this world — and how empathy and sensitivity, which can sometimes feel like burdens, are actually deep sources of strength and guidance.

We also talk openly about intimate relationships — the caregiver and receiver dynamic, how we often attract partners that mirror the parts of ourselves that need attention or healing, and the important distinction between feeling shame about something we’ve done versus believing that we are shame itself.

A big part of the conversation centers around men’s groups and why they can be such powerful spaces. When men are truly witnessed without judgment, something begins to soften. Many men experience, sometimes for the first time in decades, what it feels like to be seen, heard, and allowed to feel.

Throughout the conversation we return to something I believe deeply: healing isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about remembering yourself. It’s about turning toward the parts that were abandoned, bringing them back into relationship, and learning to meet the shadow with curiosity and compassion rather than resistance.

We also touch on the larger picture — how consciousness seems to be expanding, how the work we do now ripples into future generations, and how so often the only way forward is to move directly through what we’ve been avoiding.

If you feel called to explore this kind of work more deeply, you can connect with me below.

Work with me:moonmountainhealing.com

Subscribe to the Loving Forward Chronicles:substack.com/@moonmountainhealing

Email:onehappylife@moonmountainhealing.com

If this episode resonates, please follow the podcast, leave a rating, and share it with someone who might benefit from the conversation.

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>6452</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/190331359/981569b4e1f376b67f0e17f1d952baf1.jpg"/>

The Path of Finding Home in the Body w/ Joe

In this deeply honest and vulnerable conversation, I sit down with Joe — a Eugene-based human, cyclist, and aspiring physical therapy assistant — to explore the transformative power of meeting life’s hardest moments with courage and honesty.

Joe shares his journey through homelessness in Portland, speaking openly about living in a tent, navigating the city without resources, and the profound challenge of asking for help. He reflects on the shame he carried around both his housing situation and struggles with addiction, and how creating distance from these experiences allowed him to eventually speak about them with clarity and compassion.

Our conversation weaves through substance use, festival culture, survival strategies, and the protective parts we develop in childhood — including Joe’s “fox spirit,” a part that learned to hide in order to stay safe. Together, we explore somatic healing, parts work, and the ongoing practice of trusting the process, even when we cannot yet see the path ahead.

What emerges is a raw and compassionate dialogue about contrast, resilience, and the messy, non-linear path of healing. We talk about the paradox of feeling connected in groups while struggling to feel at home within ourselves… and the quiet loneliness many men carry even when surrounded by others.

This conversation moves between depth and play, touching on:

• how trauma can form when we don’t feel safe expressing what’s alive inside• learning to pendulate between difficult emotions and inner resources• what it really means when we say “community starts with me”• the tension between showing up powerfully in groups and feeling deflated when alone• humor, puns, and play — as bridges to connection and, at times, protective masks• the journey from wanting to be a healer to embodying the path

James brings a rare blend of sincerity and levity, reminding us that laughter and healing are not opposites — they are dance partners. Whether we’re talking somatic awareness, philosophical paradoxes, or wordplay that makes you groan and grin at the same time, this conversation honors the full spectrum of what it means to be human.

This episode is for anyone walking a healing path, learning to hold space for themselves and others, or exploring how to stay connected in a world that often pulls us apart.

A gentle reminder:

Healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy.Sometimes the deepest shifts happen when we allow ourselves to be exactly as we are.

If this conversation resonates with you and you feel called to explore this work more deeply, I’d love to connect.

Website: moonmountainhealing.comEmail: onehappylife@moonmountainhealing.comSubstack: ohlalbritton.substack.com

Subscribe on Substack to receive new writing, podcast updates, and reflections directly in your inbox.

If you found value here, one of the most supportive things you can do is:

• leave a rating and review• share this episode with someone who may benefit• subscribe so you don’t miss future conversations

Your support helps this work reach the people who need it.

Thank you.

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>5807</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/188946254/f5f36384d843f8ee5a157e0fc4321ae6.jpg"/>

The Path of Being Nobody Someday w/ Hunter

In this contemplative and heart-opening conversation, I sit down with Hunter to explore the paradoxes of spiritual awakening, the practice of becoming nobody, and what it means to truly be present in a world that constantly tells us to do more.

Hunter shares his journey from a 10-year hip-hop career driven by external validation to discovering A Course in Miracles and stepping into a path of radical non-doing. Drawing inspiration from Ram Dass and other wisdom traditions, we explore the idea that separation from God is impossible, how suffering can be grace, and how taking things personally often reveals our identification with the character rather than the whole stage.

I also share pieces of my own journey — from basketball and conditional love to the ongoing practice of knowing myself and staying fully human while walking a spiritual path.

Together, we navigate the tension between accepting that everything is perfect while still engaging with a world that appears to be full of suffering.

In this episode we explore:

• the difference between being and doing• why happiness isn’t found in external things• the metaphor of reincarnation as a baton race toward reunion with God• learning to see the love behind all words and actions• the paradox of awakening: nothing to do, and yet we still show up• Ram Dass, A Course in Miracles, and the path of becoming nobody

This conversation is for anyone questioning their relationship with productivity, seeking deeper meaning beyond worldly pursuits, or curious about what it means to rest in the awareness that we are not just this body, this person, or these thoughts.

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>4649</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/188088961/188fcd4373332d51f1fc0750ff542428.jpg"/>

The Path of Vast, Heart-Led Reception w/ Julynel

This is a nearly two-hour, spacious conversation between Julynel and I

Julynel—Zen Buddhist practitioner, meditator, and mindful dialogue speaker.

Julynel shares her path into Zen Buddhism, beginning with a life-shaping retreat at 22 years old in Oregon. We talk about lineage, discipline, and devotion to practice, including dy

ad meditation—a vocal, inquiry-based form of meditation rooted in koans and deep listening.

We explore our morning rituals and daily practices—not as productivity hacks, but as ways of orienting the nervous system, the heart, and the mind. Meditation, breathwork, journaling, hydration, making the bed mindfully—small acts that become anchors for presence.

A large thread in this conversation is about staying grounded while walking a spiritual path. How do we remain connected to the unseen without floating away from the body, the earth, and the very real world we live in? How do we become more embodied, not less, through practice?

We also move into tender and complex territory around social justice and activism—particularly navigating anger, grief, and righteous rage in response to ICE, state violence, and protest. Julynel shares a powerful story of standing still in front of armed police as an act of love, and we explore what it means to resist without becoming consumed by hatred or violence.

This is a conversation about balance:– transcendence and embodiment– discipline and softness– anger and Love– slowing down in a world that demands speed

As we talk about in this episode, a fast mind is a sick mind.

This episode is intimate, contemplative, and honest—two practitioners sitting together in curiosity, humility, and mutual respect, asking how to live, practice, and Love forward in these times.

Julynel Kerzner offers 1:1 coaching, and meditation sessions. She specializes in working with individuals who want to strengthen their awareness using meditation practices. Individuals who want to cultivate a personal daily practice, and offers opportunities for participation in group settings where inquiry and contemplation are the focus.

Visit www.embodyingenso.com for more information on julynel, her journey and how you can get in contact with her.

Check out my website - moonmountainhealing.com

If you’re interested in working with me, doing shadow work, breathwork, or men’s work, book a discovery call with me.

Or reach out via email for any questions or comments at:

Follow me on Instagram @moonmountainhealingllc

Wishing you Ease, Blessings, and the Power of your Truth <3

Get full access to Jacob at ohlalbritton.substack.com/subscribe

The Loving Forward Chronicles

<itunes:author>The Loving Forward Chronicles</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>6941</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/7891916/post/187445304/5dc38f1fd2dfb598881eb5044dcd9b36.jpg"/>

A Path of Heart, Hands, and Guts w/ Julian K

In this deeply personal episode of The Loving Forward Podcast, I sit down with Julian—massage therapist, musician, and community-minded human—to explore what it means to be a healer in complicated political times.

We begin with Julian’s work providing massage therapy to low-income clients through the Oregon Health Plan, and slowly move into a raw, honest conversation about my first protest, navigating anger and fear, and discerning how to show up without losing our humanity.

We don’t pretend to have answers. Instead, we stay with the questions: How do we engage resistance without becoming what we’re fighting? How do healers, wisdom-holders, and community builders act with integrity right now? What does it look like to keep loving forward when things feel volatile?

This is a conversation about complexity, restraint, courage, and choosing connection—especially when it would be easier to avoid.

Topics We Explore

My experience at the January 27th, 2026 Eugene protest

Rage, fear, and the pull toward violence—and how to work with them

The many roles needed in movements (fighters, healers, supporters)

Caring for yourself before trying to save the world

Building real, local community as a grounding force

The radical practice of praying for those we oppose

Finding a sustainable role without burning out

Content Note

This episode includes discussions of protest violence, police response, tear gas, and harmful rhetoric expressed at demonstrations.

There is plenty of insight, humility, and Truth to chew on in this episode.
