That number increases to 4 to 6 percent when non-CO2 effects are included. The industry has an aspirational commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050, and airlines are actively deploying such measures as buying more energy-efficient aircraft, deploying new technologies, and developing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
