It means to do something even when you don’t really feel enthusiastic about it.

How to use it

Here are a few everyday examples:

I have to get an injection, I’m scared, but let’s get it over with!

I need to talk to someone I don’t really want to talk to , let’s get that conversation over with!

I don’t want to get up, let’s get it over with!

Notice how native speakers often connect the words:

Get it over with

You’ll hear the T in get sound more like a soft D: “ged it.”
