You only get paid to do things that are unpleasant or challenging or require unique, skills.

The trick is to make sure you are willing to accept the trade-offs cost and benefits.

Sending you all my love,

Your #InternetGrandpa

This is a public episode. I’m going to do my best to share these principles that I believe have helped me and many others.I’ll probably do a whole bunch of these little snippets.I am struck by the fact that the fundamental mindset and skills and understandings that allow relationships to thrive used to be baked into culture in a way it no longer seems to be.So I think one of the first steps is being around people who have what you want and tuning out those who don’t have what you want. Also, it’s easy to look in the past and see where things weren’t good, and where there needed to be changes. But often these problems can be changed, improved, and tweaked: they don’t have to just be thrown out.Good relationships are such a big key to happiness and I want you to be happy! When you feel stuck in life (and it will happen to all of us) remember this

It’s pretty common for us to feel stuck sometimes. Nothing seems to work. Nothing seems to be going well and not only does it seem like it’s not going well it almost seems like things are working against us.Often when this happens to me it feels like this happens across the board in nearly every area of my life. But I have discovered something that works every single time. It’s almost miraculous. The thing I’ve learned is that once we take an action, however, small, of any kind it creates literal power in our lives. That creates momentum that helps us and either helps us to change our circumstances for seems to create the energy that makes things unfold and happen for us in good ways. One small action, a choice and then a little effort it’s all it authentic takes to start a powerful chain reaction. However, the effect is often disproportionate but so is the initial effort when we are stuck it really is hard to take even small steps, and so we have to push through inertia, but once I do that, I’m always glad in the result is always helpful, but sometimes miraculous. All my love,Your #InternetGrandpa

This is a public episode. It’s easier to follow people who seem to have some secret insight or who look and sound the most appealing.

But we often end up following voices who really haven’t achieved, or have even failed at, what we are trying to accomplish.

So try to find guides who have actually done what you are hoping to achieve and listen and follow them closely. This is probably one of the biggest things I know that will help. You have a happy, productive life, and avoid things that will be bitterly disappointing. I want you to be happy! They were actually pretty nice to me, but I worried about fitting in and what they might say or think about me. So, I basically let them define me and what I did and who I was. When I was about 14, I came to a turning point and I remember it very clearly: a specific phrase came to my mind and served as a key that sort of unlocked an internal, mental gate, so to speak. Since then, I've been free and able to make my own cohices and be myself without reference to what other people may )or may not) think about me. This is a a huge step to being self-actualized and happy in life, and I do so want you to be happy! But, then we have a few really nice, new, even high-end things in our closets that were gifts from generous families. It's sort of a funny contrast. This random conversation reminded me that all of us have areas in our lives and souls that are shabby, and some that are shiny and new. There are three tricks to help us manage this reality in a productive way, a good way to engage with our own shabby places, those of other people around us, and end up all the better for it! Consequently, I held some grudges and had grown cynical and a little hard-edged. I wasn’t entirely without justification, but the fact remained that I wasn’t happy. I came across a quote shared by Mother Theresa that totally changed my outlook and really helped liberate me.
