Abram, who became the patriarch Abraham, built multiple altars for the express purpose of remembering the presence of God. It turns out that altars and temples in the Ancient Near East were oriented toward the East, as opposed to all other cultures and traditions, which oriented toward the North. The scriptures, invoking the directions - East, West, North and South - are consistent in providing instructions for building an "inner altar" that helps us focus on the Land of the Risen Son, Jesus Christ. The Word also shows us how important it is to keep the Lord at the center of our life, in constant remembrance, depending on Him for all our needs. If we're not sharing our burden with Jesus, we are leaving the door open for the enemy, who is all too happy to prevent our entering through the Strait Gate.Other creators who help build my faith and assurance:Satan's Little Season eschatology:Jason Jack: https://www.youtube.com/@UCH2STZjzRvBEOcPLug_CruQ Brother Phil: https://www.youtube.com/@UC7Dgni5SjUvFBZyQeQgLrMg The Master's Harvest: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw_EZA6BCEO1KpQOFsXXD_gKing James Version:Chick Tracts (David W. God is all-knowing, and His timing is infinitely beyond anything we could possibly conceive.God's Word also reminds us that all our worries, all our insecurities, all our doubts and misgivings, are completely unwarranted. It's already done. Yes, we have freewill, we make choices, we stumble, we fail. But God's love is infinite and eternal, and He already knows how the jumbled details of our lives will turn out. To live in a human body is to face trials, one after another, every moment of every day, everywhere our bodies happen to be.God does not tempt us, nor is He ever tempted of evil. But He allows us to be tempted as a trial of our faith. These trials, as we give up the chase for satisfying the desires of our flesh and seductions of Satan, build us up and mature us in the Spirit, making us formidable opponents of the enemy, as Jesus showed us in Matthew 4, verses 1 through 11.The Bible teaches us a simple way to respond to temptation. Watch it dispassionately, in the moment when the seduction begins. And then bring it to the Lord in prayer. That simple. The other brings truth and guidance at the threshold of change. There's so much power in the mystery of the dove, who descended as the Holy Spiritfrom heaven and alighted on Jesus at His baptism. In some way, most of us have secluded ourselves in our own private arks during the past years, as one fear campaign has followed another. Most of us are unaware of these attacks, or even of their influences - the serpent Satan deals in subtlety and deceit, seducing us through enticements that seem minor and harmless at the time - until, like me, 40 years go by and we find ourselves wandering the empty rooms of our lives, afflicted by seven demons instead of one. Here, we read some verses on demons and unclean spirits, and we reflect on how we can walk with Jesus despite the enemy’s constant attempts to separate us from him.Michael Heiser: https://drmsh.comIsaiah Saldivar: https://www.youtube.com/@UCeapS6tXIdBI-Hf82-MrlCA Other creators who help build my faith and assurance:Satan’s Little Season eschatology:Jason Jack: https://www.youtube.com/@UCH2STZjzRvBEOcPLug_CruQ Brother Phil: https://www.youtube.com/@UC7Dgni5SjUvFBZyQeQgLrMg The Master’s Harvest: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw_EZA6BCEO1KpQOFsXXD_gKing James Version:Chick Tracts (David W. The first three bear little or no fruit, and result in keeping one out of the Kingdom of God.Only the fourth provides understanding and abiding in the Word, which are requirements for entry into the Kingdom of God.John, in his first Epistle, teaches that we need the “unction” or annointing of the Holy Spirit in order to understand the Word, which allows us to abide in the Holy One - aka, the Kingdom of God.Jesus reiterates this, saying that only believers are able to understand the mysteries of the Kingdom. In short, we must live our lives in a way that allows the Holy Spirit to direct everything we do, setting aside the ways of the world in order to claim our full inheritance of the abundant spiritual fruit that is only found in the Kingdom.

This is a public episode. And I managed to ignore and deny it for nearly 45 years. All during those years of wandering the wilderness, I placed my hopes for eventual deliverance in nothing but Satan’s enticements and seductions. Whatever is not of the Kingdom of God is outside of it. And if I’m retaining those things in my life, I am actively working against the Kingdom of God.We must make a stand. We must make a choice. And, once we’ve decided to live our lives within the bounds of the Kingdom of God, we must renounce everything that is outside those bounds. It’s that simple. I encountered mockery and humiliation more than once, which made it difficult to expose myself on subsequent occasions.Yet, I had a deep admiration for missionaries who would visit our church. They would have long slide-shows from the Indian jungle or the Chinese countryside, or the African safari, and they would tell harrowing tales about near catastrophes that were avoided only by the Grace and Mercy of God through prayer. I could not find such faith and determination within myself, and felt ashamed. It’s occuring to me now, all these years later, that it’s more about how we live our lives than about some kind of sales pitch. The Gospel of Christ lives in me, made present through the Holy Spirit. My task is to remember this throughout each and every day - to continually hand it over the God, and to praise God for all that He does through me.There is nothing more precious than our relationship with God. What if Satan, who was bound during those thousand years, was loosed around the time of the United States’ founding, and we are now living in the “little season” spoken of in Revelation 20?Whether we accept Satan’s Little Season Eschatology or reject it, it’s pretty clear that deception is rampant in today’s world. It’s important to challenge our “relaxed” view of Satan - that he is just a symbol of evil, and that perhaps evil itself is relative - what’s wrong in our culture may not be wrong somewhere else. This loosening of moral structure amounts from a turning away from Christ, and a turning toward Satan - whose deceptions have been infiltrating our lives since the beginning - see our passage from Genesis 3.Who is our source for Truth?Right - the answer is there in John 1:17, Jesus Christ, our armor against the evil one. It’s time to get clear about the world we live in, and to choose our side wisely.

This is a public episode. Much of Philip’s story is told in Acts 8.

We focus on a scene where Philip is told by an angel to drop everything he’s doing, and to hit the road south out of Jerusalem, into the desert toward Gaza. Without so much as a question, he mounts up and does as he’s guided to do. The famous encounter with an Ethiopian eunuch follows, which would have major consequences not only for the eunuch - who would end up baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit as a new Christian - but for Ethiopa, where he would spread the Gospel in the land of the future Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

So, by responding to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, without knowing why he should leave the spiritually enriching gig he was involved with, Philip played a major role in presenting Jesus to the African continent, which has been fertile (and dangerous) ground for the Lord ever since.

I hear a message here for myself and for every other servant of Jesus, those of us who have come to a place where, if God isn’t at the center of it, nothing in this world satisfies. Jesus came to him, and converted Saul on the spot. For three days he was blind, tended to by Ananias, who’d received a vision from Jesus to heal Paul’s vision and bring him into the fold. Saul preached the Gospel in Damascus, then went to Jerusalem, where Barnabas vouched for him, as the other disciples did not believe the conversion to be real.

I’ve always been deeply effected by Paul’s conversion, partly because I once believed that he was an impostor who’d hijacked the Gospel and turned it into something other than what Jesus intended. As I approach the Bible with reborn eyes, I see that this couldn’t be further from the truth. Paul was an integral part of God’s vast plan of Salvation for all of humanity, spelled out from Genesis 1 through Revelation 22. His teaching is not an easy one, which is probably why he is often denigrated and/or avoided, both within and out of the modern church. There’s no sugar coating, no vacillating, no bargaining. He says we will suffer - and he also says that our suffering is our strength. No one wants to hear this, but it’s one of the keys to our walk with Christ Jesus.

This is a public episode. Attacks of churches and synagogues. Muslim takovers of Western cities, encroaching more and more with its Sharia Law and its often violent intolerance of anyone who does not bow to its beliefs. Meanwhile, popular culture is still in the grips of Satanic ritual indoctrination, which effects believer and non-believers both.

The Good News is, the Bible has addressed this over and over again. God has already won the war.
