War. Politics. Rising costs. Fear. Uncertainty. There are real reasons to feel overwhelmed, discouraged, and even hopeless.

And somehow, despite all of it, I still feel hopeful.

Not the passive kind of hope where we sit around, cross our fingers, and wait for the universe to fix everything. I’m talking about the kind of hope that begins in the heart. The kind that believes possibility is still alive, that you are good, your gifts matter, and life can still surprise you in beautiful ways.

For a moment, I felt guilty about that hope. I wondered if I was naive, oblivious, or living inside some carefully protected bubble.

And then I realized something.

Hell yes, I live in a bubble.

I designed this bubble. I worked hard for this bubble. I filled it with hope, joy, play, love, creativity, and possibility. And I’m damn proud of it.

Because the energy we live inside shapes what we believe is possible. It shapes what we write, what we make, what we share, and whether we keep creating when the world gives us plenty of reasons to stop.

This week’s podcast is about protecting the inner world where your ideas, your courage, and your joy can thrive.

In This Episode, We Explore:

* What if living in a bubble is not the problem, but one of your greatest creative powers?

* How to stay open, hopeful, and creatively alive without pretending the world is not heavy

* Why the reality you build around yourself may determine which ideas you bring to life and which ones never leave your notebook

* What happens to your creativity when fear, outrage, and other people’s urgency are constantly shaping your inner world

* A guided meditation to help you build a bubble around yourself filled with hope, joy, and possibility

Journaling Practice

Think of something you are nervous to create, share, begin, or bring into the world.

Now write as if it has already happened, and you absolutely crushed it.

“Wow, I am so proud of the courageous post I just published.”

“Wow, I loved the talk I gave last night.”

“Wow, I finally shared the idea I have been sitting on for months.”

“Wow, I launched the thing, and it went beautifully.”

Write from the day after. Describe what happened, how it felt, and the moments that made you feel proud, alive, and confident.

This is a practice in hope.

Not passive hope. Not crossing your fingers and waiting for something magical to happen. This is you choosing, even for a few minutes, to place your attention on the possibility that things could go well. That you could be supported. That your courage could lead somewhere beautiful.

We are playing here. Do not let Resistance convince you that you are doing it wrong. There is no wrong way to do this.

You’re allowed to have fun with this. :)

In Closing

You do not need to know exactly how everything will unfold.

You do not need proof that your idea will work, that people will understand it, or that the thing you are building will become what you hope it can become.

Sometimes hope is simply your willingness to take one more step before the evidence arrives.

Write the post. Send the email. Share the idea. Make the invitation. Begin the thing.

Protect the part of you that still believes something beautiful is possible.

Then let that part lead.

Big love,

D

P.S. Because the work feels sacred. Because I want to get it right. Because part of me is still scared that if I fully share the thing I’m here to share, people might not understand it, receive it, or value it.

And maybe you know that feeling too.

That strange place between knowing you have something real inside you and still finding very convincing reasons to wait.

This episode is for that part of you.

In this episode, I share…

* Why the work that feels most sacred is often the work we protect, polish, delay, and hide

* What to do when you know you have something powerful to share, but you keep finding reasons not to share it yet

* How to stop letting comparison drain your creative energy and pull you out of your own lane

* The sneaky way resistance can make waiting feel wise, mature, and responsible

* A different way to think about your gifts when you’re tired of trying to fit into someone else’s lane

This Week’s Writing Exercise

This week, choose one thing you have been waiting to share.

A piece of writing.A story.A practice.An offering.A truth.A part of your voice.

Then write your way through these questions:

1. What is the tiny, teeny step?

Instead of trying to turn this into a big theatrical production, what is the smallest honest version you could share?

Could you make a pilot?A draft?A short post?A voice note?A simple invitation?A small first version that gets resistance off your back and helps you step into the river of momentum?

2. What resistance needs to be named out loud?

Write the sentence:

“I am in resistance because…”

Then tell the truth.

Name the fear.Name the comparison.Name the perfectionism.Name the part of you that keeps waiting for the “right” time.

Every time you speak resistance out loud, it loses some of its power.

3. Who can hold you accountable?

Choose one person, group, or community you trust.

Ask them to check in with you this week and ask:

“Did you take the tiny step?”

Creative flow matters.

But creative flow needs a sacred structure.

Give this thing a small deadline, a real witness, and one tiny step forward. Then let that be enough for now.

In Closing

If this episode speaks to the part of you that knows you have something real to share, I hope you give yourself permission to take one small step this week.

Not the perfect step. Not the impressive step. The honest one.

The one that keeps your creative channel open.

Big love,

D

PS: Come Write With Me This Week

If you want space, guidance, and accountability to write every week, come join us inside the Writers Club.

You’ll leave each week with fresh words on the page, more courage in your body, and more clarity about what you’re here to say.

There’s also a bonus workshop every week to help you write with more courage, clarity, and momentum.

You can browse past workshops inside the Members’ Library.

Get full access to The Artist Morning™ at artistmorning.substack.com/subscribe

Darius Bashar

<itunes:author>Darius Bashar</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>1430</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/525997/post/198912864/ec0b86152ad60808e73dce8424f63448.jpg"/>

Can a Podcast Be a Manifestation Portal?

Dear Artist,

The last time Lilian and I recorded a podcast together, something incredible manifested.

It was the second-to-last day of 2023. I was near the end of my 365-day Substack experiment, where I shipped one new post a day.

For this second-to-last post, I decided to ask Lil to join me for a deep dive podcast convo. I think I was partially exhausted from writing all year, and I wanted something a bit easier. But this was also the year I fell in love with my best friend, and it felt important to capture that moment in time.

At the very end of the podcast, we both very shyly talked about what the next year might look like for us. We were nervous to say too much because we were super fresh in our romantic relationship. At least that’s how I remember it. I’ve never re-listened to the podcast, so I might be wrong.

All this to say, we began to imagine 2024, and one of us boldly mentioned a baby.

I remember the feeling of that moment.

It felt like something important had happened. Like a portal opened, and God gave us an opportunity to claim what we really wanted in this next year.

Guess what happened in 2024?

We got pregnant.

And in the summer of 2025, our baby boy, Teyo, was born.

Maybe this sounds silly to you, but I honestly felt like the podcast became a portal to our dreams. As if the Universe was waiting for us to speak the words out loud and claim it.

Today the movers come, and we say goodbye to this magical loft.

So before leaving The Loft, we decided to sit down one more time and open that portal again.

In the middle of boxes, baby monitors, moving chaos, and one of the most tender thresholds of our lives, we decided to put Teyo to sleep and sneak in one last time capsule conversation inside this incredible, creative sanctuary.

We talk about what we’re leaving behind, what we’re carrying with us, and what we’re calling into this next era of life, family, creativity, love, and Artist Morning.

It’s intimate. It’s honest. It’s a little messy.

And maybe that’s the point.

Because sometimes the dream doesn’t arrive through a perfect and pristine plan.

Sometimes it starts as a conversation.

A moment to reflect and remember.

And an invitation to speak your dreams into a portal so that all the Universe can hear.

In This Episode, We Explore:

* What can happen when you stop keeping your dreams vague and finally let them have a voice

* Why the next version of your life may require you to grieve the version that got you here

* The quiet fear that shows up when your creative life starts asking you to become more visible

* What becomes possible when you stop asking the world for permission and start speaking from the part of you that already knows

* A behind-the-scenes glimpse at the next evolution of Artist Morning

* The creative work Lilian is finally beginning to claim out loud

This Week’s Writing Exercise

Is there a new era of your life quietly asking to be claimed?

Take a moment to imagine yourself standing in a doorway.

Behind you is the chapter that brought you here. The lessons. The grief. The growth. The people. The versions of you that did their best.

In front of you is something not fully formed yet.

A dream.A project.A version of yourself.A life that feels more honest.

What are you ready to speak out loud before you know exactly how it will come true?

What are you calling in?

And what part of you is finally ready to stop asking for permission?

Even if it’s foggy or scary, even if you have no idea how you’ll get there, use your writing time this week to give it space to leave your mind, move through your heart, and touch the air of this world.

In Closing

This one felt like a time capsule from the doorway.

One era ending.Another one beginning. And a chance to speak the next dream out loud before we know exactly how it will happen.

Huge thanks to my partner in shine, Lilian, for joining me.

She writes a beautiful Substack called Into The Body, where she explores somatic healing, embodiment, motherhood, intimacy, and coming home to yourself through the body.

I have a feeling a lot of you who follow me here on Substack will enjoy her writing too.

Thanks for listening.

Big love,D

PS: Come Write With Me This Week

If you want space, guidance, and accountability to write every week, come join us inside the Writers Club.

You’ll leave each week with fresh words on the page, more courage in your body, and more clarity about what you’re here to say.

There’s also a bonus workshop every week to help you write with more courage, clarity, and momentum.

You can browse past workshops inside the Members’ Library.

Get full access to The Artist Morning™ at artistmorning.substack.com/subscribe

Darius Bashar and Lilian Maricela Motta

<itunes:author>Darius Bashar and Lilian Maricela Motta</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>3789</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/525997/post/196797781/60197aff671eec4ab1fb15fbf7c12b8e.jpg"/>

What Has Your Soul Written On Your Heart?

Dear Artist,

This one feels tender.

This is the last podcast I will ever record in The Loft.

Next week, my family and I are moving into a new home, and I couldn’t leave this space without telling the miraculous story of how this loft came to be.

This loft became the birthplace for almost everything I’ve built over the last nine years.

* The Artist Morning

* The Creative Sanctuary

* The Writers Club

* HEARTshots

All birthed here, in The Loft.

It’s where I recorded hundreds of meditations, photographed hundreds of amazing souls, fell in love with Lilian, and became a family.

The Loft didn’t just hold my work. It held some of the deepest healing of my life.

But this episode is not just a goodbye to this wonderful home.

It’s a story about what happens when you commit to the thing your soul has written on your heart.

What Paulo Coelho, the author of The Alchemist, calls your personal legend.

The dream. The path. The quiet knowing that may not make sense to your mind, but refuses to leave your heart alone.

In this episode, I share the story of how this loft came into my life, how it shaped the last nine years of my work, and what happened when I finally committed to the path my soul had been whispering to me all along.

My hope is that this story helps you remember your own personal legend. The dream written on your heart. The door waiting for your courage. The quiet truth that when you really commit to the path that is yours, the Universe begins to meet you there.

In this episode, we explore:

* What happens when you stop ignoring the dream that won’t leave you alone

* Why the path meant for you can feel foolish before it feels faithful

* How to invite the Universe to collaborate with you on your dream

* How to metabolize the lessons, hardships, and wisdom of your past into nutrients for your soul

* A guided meditation to help you remember what your soul has written on your heart

This Week’s Writing Exercise

To integrate today’s episode, I want to invite you to look back at one era of your own life. (5 to 10 years).

Not to judge it.Not to cling to it.But to metabolize what it gave you, so you can carry its wisdom into whatever is calling you next.

Writing Prompt:

Choose one era of your life that feels complete, or nearly complete.

It could be the last few years, the last decade, a relationship, a season of work, a home, a role, or a version of yourself you are slowly outgrowing.

Take a little time to honour what happened there.

* What did this era give you?

* What did it teach you?

* What did it ask of you?

* What did it awaken in you?

Then gently ask:

* What wisdom am I meant to carry forward?

* What am I ready to leave behind?

* What dream is still written on my heart?

You don’t need to force a perfect answer.

Just listen for the thing that still feels alive.

In Closing

As I say goodbye to The Loft, I feel the grief, the gratitude, and the mystery of what comes next.

This space gave me more than I could have imagined. It gave me a place to practice listening. A place to create. A place to become.

And my hope is that today’s episode gives you a little more courage to listen to what has been quietly calling you too.

Not because you need to blow up your life. Not because you need to have it all figured out.But because there may be a dream, a path, or a deeper truth inside you that is ready for a little more devotion.

Start there.

Listen.Write.Take one honest step.

And trust that when you begin walking toward the thing your soul has written on your heart, life will begin opening doors you could never have opened alone.

Big love,D

PS: Come Write With Me This Week

If you want space, guidance, and accountability to write every week, come join us inside the Writers Club.

You’ll leave each week with fresh words on the page, more courage in your body, and more clarity about what you’re here to say.

There’s also a bonus workshop every week to help you write with more courage, clarity, and momentum.

You can browse past workshops inside the Members’ Library.

Get full access to The Artist Morning™ at artistmorning.substack.com/subscribe

Darius Bashar

<itunes:author>Darius Bashar</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>1581</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/525997/post/196050410/9697a01db30f247e40d9f629aae3a357.jpg"/>

The Book That Waited 13 Years

Dear Artist,

Some creative projects don’t die.

They wait.

They wait while life moves on. While we get busy. While we lose faith. While some part of us quietly wonders if maybe it’s too late.

Jessica Amos wrote her poetic memoir, My Life in Moments, 13 years ago.

And last week, she finally published it.

This conversation is about that. But it’s also about much more.

It’s about staying with yourself when life pulls you away from your own truth. It’s about caring deeply without carrying what isn’t yours. It’s about creative timing, memoir, meditation, and the strange, beautiful courage it takes to share the stories that shaped you.

If you’ve been sitting on a story, a dream, a book, a Substack, a poem, or a piece of yourself you’re not sure the world is ready for, I think this conversation will meet you in a really tender and inspiring place.

In this conversation, we explore:

Why “stay with yourself” is more than a nice phrase

Jessica shares the simple coffee shop moment that helped her realize how often she was abandoning her own pace, needs, and inner knowing.

How to care without carrying

A powerful conversation for sensitive, generous humans who want to stay open-hearted without taking on everyone else’s pain, pressure, and energy.

Why meditation can become part of your creative process

We talk about using meditation not just to calm down, but to listen more deeply, receive ideas, and create from a clearer place.

How to write personal stories without forcing them into a traditional shape

Jessica shares how My Life in Moments became a poetic memoir built from snapshots, memory, spaciousness, and truth.

What to do with a creative dream that has been sitting for years

This might be my favourite part. Jessica wrote this book 13 years ago, but never published it. And somehow, it still found its way into the world at the right time.

This Week’s Writing Exercise

One of the things I love most about Jessica’s book is the form itself.

This poetic memoir approach feels brilliant to me because it gives us permission to tell the truth without having to explain everything. Just moments. Just fragments. Just little living pieces of a life.

Inspired by Jessica’s poetic memoir, My Life in Moments, today’s invitation is to write your own tiny version of a life in moments.

Choose one decade of your life.

It could be ages 0 to 10.Or 10 to 20.Or the decade you’re living right now.

Then move through that decade year by year and ask yourself:

What, if anything, do I remember?

Don’t try to make it beautiful.Don’t try to make it poetic.Don’t try to explain the whole story.

Just write down a few moments.

Something you remember directly.Something someone told you about yourself.A room.A smell.A person.A game.A sentence.A place you lived.A strange little detail that somehow still lives in your body.

Try writing 3 to 5 moments for each year.

Let them be messy. Let them be simple. But what stands out to me most is not just what he creates. It’s the way he meets life. Chris has a real gift for taking pain, uncertainty and grief, and turning them into something honest, soulful, and moving.

I highly recommend checking out his music on Spotify. We need honesty. We need openness. We need the willingness to work with what is actually here.

Chris has a beautiful way of taking real life, even the painful or uncertain parts, and turning it into something moving, soulful, and true. You can feel that in this conversation. You can also feel it in his recent Substack article, Rising Sun, which we talked about a lot in this episode. It’s a beautiful companion to this conversation and well worth experiencing next.

Watch the full interview above, take the journal prompt into your week, and let me know in the comments: what in your life might be asking to be turned into something honest and beautiful right now?

Big love,

You can browse past workshops inside the Members Library.

Get full access to The Artist Morning™ at artistmorning.substack.com/subscribe

Darius Bashar and Chris Assaad

<itunes:author>Darius Bashar and Chris Assaad</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>3645</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/525997/post/193701266/6dfc6009a9cfff0d14f64639eae49e8d.jpg"/>

6 Years Ago, Spirit Whispered …

Dear Artist,

Six years ago, I nearly walked away from the greatest creative project of my life before it even began. He’s one of those rare people whose work feels both deeply grounded and deeply awake. Charles is an artist, author, meditation teacher, personal guide, and psychologist, and he has impacted my creativity in subtle yet profound ways. You may know him from Insight Timer, where he’s become one of the top teachers on the platform, with courses that have reached tens of thousands of students. His Tao Te Ching Mastery course was one of the most popular courses on Insight Timer in 2025.

In this conversation, Charles and I went into some of my favourite topics: creativity, spirituality, truth, discomfort, and the strange freedom that can open up when you stop trying to force a project and start listening for what wants to come through. If you’ve ever felt called to make something you can’t fully explain yet, this one’s for you.

In This Conversation, We Explore:

* How to keep creating what feels true in a world that rewards sameness and imitation

* How to tell when a project is truly alive, and when you’re just repeating what already worked

* What to do when you feel called to make something you cannot fully explain yet

* How to transform discomfort into resilience and growth

* How self-imposed limitations can sharpen your focus and unlock deeper creativity

* The difference between ego-led creation and soul-led work

* How presence, God, and self-forgetfulness can open a deeper channel for creativity

This Week’s Journal Prompt

Charles shares a beautiful idea in this conversation: sometimes growth comes from intentionally removing one of the tools or patterns that usually make us feel most comfortable. He gives the example of a painter taking their two favourite colours off the palette, just to see what else becomes possible.

What might that look like in your creative life right now?

Choose one familiar comfort, habit, or go-to tool to remove this week, not to punish yourself, but to make space for surprise, exploration, and creative expansion.

Then journal on this:

What am I relying on most right now, and what might open up if I gave myself the gift of creating without it?

In Closing

One of the things I loved most about this conversation is that it does not reduce creativity to a formula. It invites us back into self-trust, presence, curiosity, and the kind of honesty that can actually change us. That, to me, is where the juiciest creative adventures live.

We also talk about Charles’s new course, The God Note, which just went live this week. If you want to go deeper into his work after watching this interview, that’s a beautiful next step.

Watch the full interview above, take the journal prompt into your week, and in the comments, let me know: what are you being invited to make differently right now?

Big love,

D

PS: Come Write With Me This Week

If you want space, guidance, and accountability to write every week, come join us inside the Writers Club.

You’ll leave each week with fresh words on the page, more courage in your body, and more clarity about what you’re here to say.

Get full access to The Artist Morning™ at artistmorning.substack.com/subscribe

Darius Bashar and Charles Freligh, PhD

<itunes:author>Darius Bashar and Charles Freligh, PhD</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>3486</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/525997/post/192093552/2f1f4c0308f588413dda6bed0b5d691b.jpg"/>

The God Frequency and Your Personal Legend

Dear Artist,

In this episode, I explore what it means to stay on the path that is truly yours. I talk about the things that pull us away from it, like comparison, perfectionism, fear, and attachment, and the deeper frequency that helps us come back. The one I’ve been calling the God Frequency.

I’ve been sitting with 2 questions lately:

1) What is my lane?

2) What is my zone?

Let’s start there.

Your Lane is the path that leads you toward what Paulo Coelho, in The Alchemist, calls your Personal Legend.

Your Personal Legend is the deeper life you were meant to live. The truest expression of your soul. The thing that feels most alive. Most true. Most yours.

And Your Zone is the energy that helps you stay on that path.

But of course, many things pull us off that path.

* Comparison

* Competition

* Perfectionism

* Fear of failure

* Fear of rejection

* And one of the biggest ones of all: attachment

Attachment to how it should look. Attachment to how fast it should happen. Attachment to who we need to be. Attachment to what other people need to think. Attachment to how our work needs to be received.

And all of that makes the path heavier. Heavier than it needs to be. It slows us down. It tightens us up. It pulls us out of joy. Out of play. Out of trust.

And this is where Your Zone matters.

In This Episode, We Explore:

* Why so many of us drift from the deeper path we were meant to live

* How to find Your Lane, and the Zone that helps you stay there

* What throws us off our path, even when we know better

* What I mean by the God Frequency, and how it helps us come back to ourselves

* The dream that keeps finding you, and why it may not be random

* Where the real treasure actually is

To me, Your Zone is the place of joy. The place of play. The place of trust. The place of lightness. The place I’ve been calling the God Frequency.

When I step into the God Frequency, comparison starts to disappear. Competition starts to dissolve. The heaviness begins to melt. There is more space. More pleasure. More freedom to create, explore, and move.

And from that place, I can keep walking.

Not with force. Not with panic. Not with constant self-doubt.

But with more presence.More stamina. More joy.

And maybe that’s the deeper invitation here. Not just to chase the dream at the end of the path. But to become someone new while walking it.

Time To Integrate (Part 3 of 3)

The writing exercise below is designed to help you go deeper after listening to the episode

The Dream That Keeps Finding You

Paulo Coelho writes about the idea of a Personal Legend. The deeper life that is yours to live.

So here’s what I want to ask you:

Is there a dream that keeps finding you?

A path that still feels alive, even after all this time. A version of you that still calls to you. A life you may have delayed, dismissed, or drifted from, but never fully forgot.

Write about that dream today.

What is it?Why do you think it keeps returning? What has pulled you away from it?What has it cost you to ignore it? And what is one small step you could take toward it now?

In Closing

Wherever this finds you today, I hope it reminds you that the dream that keeps finding you may not be random. It may be pointing you back to something sacred. Something true. Something that has been yours all along.

Big love,

D

PS: Come Write With Me This Week

If you want space, guidance, and accountability to write every week, come join us inside the Writers Club.

You’ll leave each week with fresh words on the page, more courage in your body, and more clarity about what you’re here to say.

You’ll also get full access to the members’ library with over 16 video workshops & tutorials.

Get full access to The Artist Morning™ at artistmorning.substack.com/subscribe

Darius Bashar

<itunes:author>Darius Bashar</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>1337</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/525997/post/190731377/b75ff02590639019fcfce8c1e4eb0b31.jpg"/>

How To Transform Failure Into Power

Dear Artist,

You’re not scared of failure.

You’re scared of what failure could reveal about who you are.

That you’re not good enough. Not talented enough. Not lovable enough.

So you hesitate. You overthink. You wait.

And most of all, you do whatever it takes to avoid failing.

In this episode, I’m going to show you how to flip failure from something you avoid into something essential to any form of creative success.

I am going to show you a process that helped me build real capacity for failure and turn it into one of my biggest creative advantages.

Because for a lot of us, the real issue isn’t failure.

It’s the old, unconscious link:

If I fail, the love goes away.

And once you see that, you can change it.

Here are the three questions we’ll use as the doorway:

1) How do you feel about failure? 2) What do you believe about failure? 3) What’s your process for mining the gold from your failures?

6 Key Takeaways For This Week’s Episode

If you want the full depth, listen to the podcast. I go much deeper into each of these, and the episode includes a meditation to help you integrate the teaching, not just understand it intellectually.

1) Failure isn’t the problem. Avoiding it is.

Avoidance costs you the lesson. The lesson is the gold.

2) Your fear of failure is rarely about the outcome.

It’s about identity. What failing might “prove” about you. For a lot of us, it touches an old wound: If I fail, the love goes away.

3) The goal isn’t to never fail.

The goal is to fail without abandoning yourself, and to build a process that turns the raw minerals of failure into useful information.

4) Your beliefs build your dreams.

Beliefs shape identity → Identity drives actions → Actions create outcomes → Outcomes create your dreams. If you want to upgrade your creative dreams, you will need to upgrade your beliefs first.

5) Your actions reveal your real beliefs.

If you say you believe in yourself, but you keep hiding, delaying, and “perfecting”, your real belief is showing. That’s not shame. That’s data.

6) Failure is information, not a verdict.

When failure becomes information, it stops being a weapon against you and starts becoming a map forward.

Writing Exercise (Mine the Gold)

Okay, if you’ve listened to the podcast and you’re ready to take this from theory to practice, start here.

Pick one recent “failure.” Something that stung.

1) Feel it (body first).

When you think about it, what do you feel in your body?

Name it:

I feel ____________. I feel ____________. I feel ____________.

2) Name the belief.

Finish this sentence without censoring yourself:

If I fail, it means ____________________.

3) Trace it back.

Have I felt this before? Does it feel familiar?

How old do I feel when I believe this? There’s nothing you need to believe. Nothing needs to change. You get to have your own relationship with God, or no relationship at all.

When I say “God” here, I’m not talking about religion. I’m talking about relationship.

And I’m not sharing this as an abstract idea.

In this episode, I share two prayers that have been monumental in my life. Especially my creative life.

You might not know this, but I’m naturally scattered. I’m easily distracted. I can get pulled by the noise, the chaos, the fear, the internet, the inbox, the world.

And these super-short and simple prayers have kept me steady.

They’ve helped me create and share my writing and creative projects at a very high level, with more focus, alignment, courage, consistency, and profit.

If you’re craving that kind of support, you’re going to enjoy this episode.

In This Episode:

Part 1: Story + Lesson

Why I refuse to let a few people’s misuse of “God” take this powerful ally away from me.

Part 2: Guided Meditation

A practice to quiet the noise and feel supported as you move toward Future You.

Part 3: Writing Exercise

A simple way to integrate this week’s episode and take your next aligned step.

My Go-To Prayers

Prayer 1: (Dear Universe)

This is a 30 second pray I use when I feel scattered, and I need to come back to my path. It’s super simple and short, but incredibly powerful.

Dear Universe, Please help me share more of my gifts with the world in a way that is healthy, joyful, and profitable. I am open, willing, and ready to receive.

Prayer 2 (Dear God)

This one is for courage. For truth. For when I’m tempted to hide, perform, or play small.

Dear God, Please use me as a vessel for your divine expression. Use me as an instrument of your love. Give me the strength to go into the depths of my heart and find my truth, and the courage to speak my truth in my own authentic voice. Whatever happens from there, I let go and let God.

Writing Exercise: Your Guard Rails

Write this at the top of a fresh page:

“Today, I’m choosing focus.”

Then write three short sections:

1) The Noise

* What’s the loudest thing in my mind right now?

* What keeps stealing my attention when I sit down to create?

* What truth am I avoiding because it would ask more of me?

2) Future You

* If Future Me watched my day today, what would they ask me to do first?

* What would Future Me stop feeding (scrolling, perfectionism, people-pleasing, doubt)?

* What would Future Me do next, even if it’s imperfect?

3) Your Guard Rails

Write out the following and fill in the blanks.

Dear Universe…

* Please help me share more of my gifts with the world in a way that is healthy, joyful, and profitable by ____________.

* Help me stay focused today by ____________.

* Help me take one aligned step by ____________.

Dear God…

* Please give me the courage to speak my truth in my own authentic voice about ____________.

* Help me stop hiding behind ____________.

* Help me say the thing I’ve been scared to say: ____________.

If you want to share, drop one of your Guard Rail lines in the comments below.

Or if you prefer, hit reply and send it directly to me.

In Closing:

If you take anything from this episode, let it be this:

When everything feels loud and chaotic, come back to relationships that can help you anchor and ground. Come back to support, whatever that means to you. If “Universe” or “God” aren’t your jam, try walks in nature, meditation, or even reaching out to you a dear friend.

All of us need support. No one does this alone. And I think that’s a beautiful thing.

Big love,

D

PS: Ready To Turn Your Writing Into Income?

The April cohort of The Creative Sanctuary is filling up.

There are 2 spots left, and early-bird pricing ends March 1. A private draft. A paragraph. A voice note. Anything that proves resistance does not control you.

Writing Exercise: Outsmarting Resistance

Set a timer for 12 minutes. If you want extra depth, do 20 minutes.

1) Choose one creative thing you care about (1 minute)

Finish this sentence: “The thing I want to express right now is…”

Be concrete. A post. A poem. A personal story. A newsletter. A Substack note. A chapter. A pitch.

2) Identify the Manifestation (1 minute)

Circle one:

* Perfectionism

* Comparison

* Fear of rejection

* Imposter syndrome

* Victim mindset

Now finish this:

“The main way Resistance is showing up today is…”

3) Give Resistance a script (3 minutes)

Write this as fast as you can: “Resistance is trying to convince me that…”

Let it be dramatic. Let it be messy. Let it sound like the voice in your head. No censoring.

4) Separate truth from performance (3 minutes)

Now respond back. Calm. Clean. Grounded.

“Here’s what’s actually true…”

“Here’s what I can do anyway…”

“Even if I’m scared, I’m still allowed to…”

5) The tiny defiant step (2 minutes)

Resistance hates tiny creative steps because tiny steps work.

Finish this: “The smallest step I can take today to keep my creative channel open is…”

Make it almost laughably doable, because it’s so tiny.

Examples:

* write 3 sentences

* publish a short note

* open a draft and title it

* record a 60-second voice memo

* message one friend and admit you’re feeling Resistance

6) Break the isolation spell (2 minutes)

Copy/paste this and send it to one thoughtful and kind human:

Hi… I’m feeling a lot of Resistance today. I’m overthinking and starting to spiral a bit. Can you send me a “you’ve got this” or a dumb meme to keep me going?

Closing

Take a breath.

Resistance isn’t proof you’re failing. It’s proof you’re close.

Name it. Tell one human.Take the tiny step.

Choose one line from your writing exercise today and make it your anchor for the day. It’s a Practice.

Dear Artist,

I have some exciting news to share with you.

I’m officially launching the Artist Morning Podcast right here on Substack.

The Artist Morning Podcast is a biweekly guided audio practice for writers and creators. One lesson. One meditation. One writing practice. To help you finally share your most soulful work with the world. Each episode is under 20 minutes and packed with tools and mindset shifts to help you write with more courage, clarity, and consistency.

For the past 6 years, guided meditations have been one of my favourite ways to teach. I have created over 250 different meditations so far, and we have over 35,000 people meditating with us each month. Pretty wild.

This podcast lets me combine teaching + meditation + writing in one simple audio experience.

Each episode has three parts (under 20 minutes total):

PART 1: A story + lesson

PART 2: A 10-minute guided meditation

PART 3: A writing practice to bring it all home

In today’s episode, the core idea is simple.

Ready isn’t a feeling.Ready is a decision you make.

If you keep waiting for the feeling, you might wait longer than you want to.

Because “ready” is often a mirage. And even when it shows up, it usually shows up late, after momentum is already gone.

So instead of waiting, we explore a better option.

This episode is about permission.

Permission to play.

Permission to be messy.

Permission to be a beginner.

And permission to keep your heart open, even if it’s been hurt before.

This Episode’s Writing Practice (AKA Part 3)

TITLE: I AM DONE WAITING FOR READY (10 minutes)

Grab your journal. Take one breath. No performance. Just truth.

Put one hand on your chest.Say this once, quietly: “I’m done waiting.”Now write like you mean it.

Set a timer for 10 minutes. Write fast. Write honest.

Part 1: The Cost of Waiting (2 minutes)Finish this sentence 5–10 times:

“If I keep waiting to feel ready, I’m secretly choosing…”

Don’t be polite. Be real. What are you actually giving up?Time? joy? momentum? Your voice?

Part 2: The Permission Page (5 minutes)Write this like you’re talking to yourself in the mirror:

“I’m done negotiating with fear.”“I give myself permission to be bad at this at first.”“I give myself permission to make a mess.”“I give myself permission to be seen before I’m perfect.”“I give myself permission to want more.”“I give myself permission to tell the truth slowly, at the speed of trust.”“I give myself permission to be the kind of writer who ships.”

Now add 3 of your own. The ones you’ve been afraid to admit you need.

Part 3: The No-More-Hiding Move (3 minutes)

Choose one action you can take in the next 24 hours that proves you’re serious.

Write it as a vow:

“Before tomorrow ends, I will…”“The smallest brave version of this is…”“I will not overthink this. I will…”

Optional final line (land it):“Ready isn’t a feeling. Today, I choose ready by…”

Closing stamp:

“I don’t need permission. I am permission.”

Big love,

D

PS: Want to Write Together Weekly?

If you’re ready to start writing more courageously and consistently on Substack, join me inside the Writers Club. We meet online every Tuesday morning. The Writers Club is a weekly community with support and structure to help you finally share your writing and your gifts with the world.

Get full access to The Artist Morning™ at artistmorning.substack.com/subscribe

Darius Bashar

<itunes:author>Darius Bashar</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>946</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/525997/post/184838307/ceea0a4118b79240c65256a8c4d9c4c7.jpg"/><itunes:season>1</itunes:season><itunes:episode>1</itunes:episode><itunes:episodeType>full</itunes:episodeType>
