It is filled with original artwork (from the mid 19th century), music, and sound effects leading to an even greater appreciation of this classic Christmas tale. To hear the audio and see all the original artwork in an ebook, go to https://books.apple.com/us/book/twas-the-night-before-christmas/id1543494658

Clement Moore originally claimed authorship, but later the family of Henry Livingston, Jr. - a soldier, landowner, and poet who died in 1828 - disputed Moore’s claim and argued that the poem was Livingston’s. Recently, computer-aided analysis shows more similarities to Livingston’s poetry than to Moore’s.

This rendition of the famous Christmas poem has been a labor of love by all involved. The reader, Christian Andrade, took special care to make it special for his son. It was directed by Diana Andrade, the grandmother, with extra commentary at the beginning and end of the reading done by Jaime Andrade, a.k.a. grandpa.

Thanks for listening to “A Visit from St. Nicholas.” Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

This is a public episode. With plans to meet his friends at a logging camp by 6:00 pm, the Man finds himself pitted in a life and death struggle with nature. A young boy finds a homeless dog, desperate for love, and brings him into his home. What is frightening about Crane’s take on this typical relationship, a boy and his dog, are the parallels between the young boy’s treatment of the dog and his abusive, alcoholic father’s treatment of those around him.

The amount of symbolism used throughout this essay is staggering. Symbolism is the main literary element used in this piece of work. Written in 1890, this story reflects the period of time that came shortly before known as Jim Crow.

Superbly performed by Michael Pearl. Enjoy!

This is a public episode.
