Nothing dramatic. Nothing that stops them living their lives. But it’s there. A slight loss of confidence. Worry about things that never used to bother them. A feeling that something has shifted and they don’t quite understand why.

In this episode I talk about:

• The physical and hormonal changes that can contribute to anxiety• Why it isn’t “all in your head”• The way our minds can latch onto anxious thoughts and take us round in circles• Simple ways to sit with the feeling instead of fighting it• Why talking about it with other women matters far more than we realise

If this is something you’ve been experiencing, you’re not the only one.

And you don’t have to carry it on your own.

Get full access to The Unburdened Woman at niamhcorcoran.substack.com/subscribe

Niamh Corcoran

<itunes:author>Niamh Corcoran</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>741</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/4844002/post/190845170/e5aa780d3cccab3077068e3da87edca5.jpg"/>

Season 3 - Episode 16: The Worrying Night-Time Brain and the Quiet Knowing That There’s More

You’re exhausted. Not because they are bad at communicating, but because they are carrying the mental, emotional and practical load for everyone else.

She shares a simple but uncomfortable truth. When you take responsibility for everyone’s planning, forgetting and fixing, people stop needing to listen. Alongside real examples from family life, this episode explores how changing what you carry changes how others show up.

This is about boundaries, not blame. Responsibility, not resentment. Today I’m naming that shift and stepping fully into what this space has become: The Unburdened Woman.

In this short episode, I talk about who the unburdened woman is at her core. She is strong, capable and resilient. She knows her worth. She refuses to shrink or dim herself to keep the peace. She says no when she needs to and yes when she means it.She lives her own life without guilt, resentment or apology.

Over the past two seasons we’ve heard stories from women who’ve walked through fire and rebuilt themselves. I’ve realised this podcast has never been about nattering. It’s about truth, transformation and giving women permission to step back into themselves.

Going forward you’ll still hear conversations, stories and solo episodes — but with a deeper intention. You’ll also find my poetry, reflections, journalling prompts and short meditations here, because all of it is part of this journey towards becoming unburdened.

Thank you for listening up to now. I hope you’ll stay for what comes next. This is where the real work begins

Get full access to The Unburdened Woman at niamhcorcoran.substack.com/subscribe

Niamh Corcoran

<itunes:author>Niamh Corcoran</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>280</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/4844002/post/179469154/e5aa780d3cccab3077068e3da87edca5.jpg"/>

Season 2 Episode 21: Finding Clarity in a Noisy Mind: A Conversation on Thought, Anxiety and the Three Principles with Sharon J Crabbe

This final episode under the Natter with Niamh banner (I’m not going anywhere just becoming The Unburdened Woman) is a conversation with coach Sharon Crabbe about the Three Principles, the nature of thought, and how our minds can create chaos or clarity depending on what we feed them. Let’s drop the drama of “why” and ask a better question: What now?

Get full access to The Unburdened Woman at niamhcorcoran.substack.com/subscribe

Niamh Corcoran

<itunes:author>Niamh Corcoran</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>430</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/4844002/post/168462890/e5aa780d3cccab3077068e3da87edca5.jpg"/>

Episode 21: Letting Go of the Story: Foster Care, Poetry & the Power of Connection with Chrissy Kelly

In this guest episode of Natter with Niamh, I speak with poet and retreat host Chrissy Kelly about her journey from foster care to finding freedom in storytelling. Carl bravely shared his journey through depression and anger, shining a light on how childhood wounds, parenting, and societal pressures shape the way we cope (or don’t).

We talked about the impact of growing up with perfectionist parents and how feeling “not good enough” can stick with us for years, sometimes showing up as anger or self-doubt. Carl’s story about his own battles with bullying and trauma was raw and powerful, reminding us how vital it is to create spaces where emotions can be safely expressed rather than bottled up.

One of the most important threads throughout our chat was the need to acknowledge and express anger in healthy ways—whether as children or adults—and how suppressing emotions often does more harm than good. We also explored how crucial it is for kids to feel truly heard and valued, something that can make all the difference in their development and self-worth.

Carl also shared how fitness and self-care became a lifeline during his darkest times, helping him find balance and purpose. Our conversation ended on a hopeful note, with Carl encouraging everyone to take care of themselves and set boundaries, and me inviting you to join our new community where we can continue these important conversations and support each other.

If you want to connect with Carl you’ll find him on Facebook, TikTok and on his website www.angrysouls.co.uk

Get full access to The Unburdened Woman at niamhcorcoran.substack.com/subscribe

Niamh Corcoran

<itunes:author>Niamh Corcoran</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>2205</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/4844002/post/164084466/dc38f30d07664e267fb9c62a4f9209da.jpg"/>

Episode 7: What does true resilience look like?

In this solo episode, I challenge the idea that resilience is pushing through, of always having to cope alone. But what does it actually mean to listen? Really listen? Not just to others, but to yourself?

In this episode of Natter with Niamh, I’m diving into what I’ve learned about listening—from classroom rules to active listening as a coach—and how the most powerful shift for me came when I turned that deep listening inward.

For years, I was great at hearing everyone else, holding space (even if I’m not a fan of that phrase!) and making others feel seen and safe to share. But I wasn’t doing the same for myself. I was ignoring, judging, and silencing my own needs and thoughts.

It wasn’t until I began journaling, meditating, and getting quiet that I started to really hear what I was saying to myself—and from there, everything changed. Healing began. The inner critic softened. And I began to uncover what I truly needed.

This episode is a gentle invitation to ask:Do you truly listen to yourself? And if not—can you begin?

💭 In this episode:

* The difference between listening and active listening

* How childhood and classroom experiences shape our understanding of being heard

* Why many of us are kind, compassionate listeners for others… but not for ourselves

* The power of journaling and meditation in learning to truly hear your inner voice

* How self-listening can lead to healing, clarity, and self-compassion

If you’re feeling unheard—even by yourself—or don’t know where to begin, I’m here. You don’t have to do it alone.

💌 Reach out if you'd like support, or just to share what came up for you in this episode.
