We first met when she was an Executive Producer of my feature film, <a target="_blank" href="https://geni.us/BELLE">Belle</a>. Sharon’s written <a target="_blank" href="https://powerswrites.com/books">numerous books</a> and screenplays, and opened <em>Pink Lava</em>, the 6th women’s surf shop in the country.</p><p>Sharon’s feature film screenplay, <em>One More,</em> is a horror film about a group of surfers that get attacked by (surfing) vampires. I was immediately drawn to the high concept, the genre fusion so came on board to develop it as director. </p><p>Our conversation covers Sharon’s process of writing the script, our years of development on the film, crossover between surf genre and the slasher/horror genres, and our mutual passion for <em>Blade</em>. We co-developed the story together with the intent that I would direct the feature… but we still haven’t shot it.</p><p>This is a conversation with Mickey during which we discuss our creative process from the very beginning, track through the development of the feature and end with when we decided (about 6 years later) to shoot <a target="_blank" href="https://www.blindhummingbird.com/girl-in-the-lake">the short film version</a> in Minneapolis to see our characters on screen. </p><p>The short sold out festival screenings at MSPIFF, SF Indie Shorts and won “Best Rom-Com” at Indie Short Fest before landing in an installation at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in 2022. </p><p>But we still haven’t made the full movie…</p><p>You can download the latest script full draft for <strong>Girl In the Lake</strong> below.</p><p></p> <br/><br/>This is a public episode.
