She reflects on the resilience it took to navigate higher education without a safety net, the mentors and texts that shaped her love of philosophy, and how the pursuit of knowledge became both a personal lifeline and a professional compass. Her story illustrates how determination and academic achievement can break through systemic barriers and open doors that once seemed out of reach.

Sidney also explores how her MBA and academic path have informed her work as a startup founder. She draws connections between the rigor of business education, the critical depth of philosophy, and the disruptive energy of entrepreneurship. For her, pursuing a PhD is not a departure from startups but the continuation of the same mission: to challenge entrenched systems, fuse scholarship with innovation, and build ventures that expand what’s possible.

Get full access to The Mirror I Mirror App Substack at themirrormirrorapp.substack.com/subscribe

MIRROR | MIRROR™️ and Sidney Madison Prescott, MBA

<itunes:author>MIRROR | MIRROR™️ and Sidney Madison Prescott, MBA</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>2373</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/2841297/post/173585852/86796402076c5190f6f807186f9d0a7f.jpg"/><itunes:episodeType>full</itunes:episodeType>

From Selfies to a Startup: The Birth of MIRROR | MIRROR

What began as a simple ritual of snapping selfies to choose between outfits evolved into a groundbreaking idea that reimagines the relationship between style, technology, and self-expression. From exploitative labor practices to surveillance-driven business models, the startup world has too often been built on shortcuts that leave lasting harm. But I also argue that a new wave of founders is emerging — leaders who see integrity not as a liability but as their greatest competitive advantage.

This conversation is both a critique and a call to action: we must confront the monsters capitalism created, and we must build better. Ethical founders are not only possible — they are necessary for the future of technology, startups, and society.

Get full access to The Mirror I Mirror App Substack at themirrormirrorapp.substack.com/subscribe

MIRROR | MIRROR™️ and Sidney Madison Prescott, MBA

<itunes:author>MIRROR | MIRROR™️ and Sidney Madison Prescott, MBA</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>2451</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/2841297/post/171794788/86796402076c5190f6f807186f9d0a7f.jpg"/>

Rage as Fuel: Why Anger Builds Billion-Dollar Startups

This episode is raw, unfiltered, and unapologetic. I dive into how rage has been the fuel behind my ambition, and why anger, which is so often dismissed as destructive, can be the greatest tool for startup founders of color or anyone who wasn’t born into privilege. When the system is stacked against you, fury isn’t a weakness; it’s the fire that forges resilience.

I break down how obsession with your idea is not optional but essential, and why being consumed by your vision is the only way to push through the walls the world will build around you. This is a conversation about weaponizing your emotions, rewriting the narrative of what drives success, and proving that raw hunger is more powerful than inherited access.

Get full access to The Mirror I Mirror App Substack at themirrormirrorapp.substack.com/subscribe

MIRROR | MIRROR™️ and Sidney Madison Prescott, MBA

<itunes:author>MIRROR | MIRROR™️ and Sidney Madison Prescott, MBA</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>No</itunes:explicit><itunes:duration>2230</itunes:duration><itunes:image href="https://substackcdn.com/feed/podcast/2841297/post/171511173/86796402076c5190f6f807186f9d0a7f.jpg"/>

Silicon Valley’s AI God Complex

In this episode, we pull back the glossy curtain on Big Tech’s most audacious trick: convincing the world that their most absurd AI fantasies aren’t just possible, they’re inevitable. It’s not the sleepless nights, or the pivot after yet another no. It’s the quiet rage you carry when you realize you’re building the product Big Tech never wanted you to believe was possible.

This is the first entry in my Founder Reflections series, an unfiltered behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build MIRROR | MIRROR, a fashion tech platform rooted in community, individuality, and mental health. A platform born from love and from a deep, simmering anger at the system I came from.

Because to understand MIRROR | MIRROR, you have to understand what I’m rebelling against.

Let’s talk about Big Tech.

The Machine Was Never Made for Us

I’ve worked inside Big Tech. I've seen the glossy decks, the bloated roadmaps, the innovation theatre. I've also seen the systemic erasure. The way people of color, especially women, are sidelined in decision-making, exploited for perspective, and then discarded the moment we challenge the status quo.

Big Tech doesn’t want empowerment. It wants engagement. It doesn't care about your individuality; it cares about your predictability. And every app you use, every algorithm you interact with, is engineered to do one thing: extract your data, flatten your complexity, and convert your uniqueness into a sales funnel.

What happens to your mental health? Your confidence? Your sense of self?

Collateral damage.

The same companies that destabilize your self-worth then turn around and launch “wellness initiatives” as PR campaigns. They profit from your insecurity, then brand themselves as your savior.

I’m not interested in patching up a broken system. I’m here to replace it.

Why I Am Building MIRROR | MIRROR

MIRROR | MIRROR is what happens when you stop waiting for platforms to do the right thing—and start building your own.

It’s a vote-powered fashion community where your style gets seen, respected, and celebrated. You upload a look. The community gives real feedback. Your AI stylist, Dorota, offers personalized recommendations based on your style, your goals, and your mood, not based on trends designed to drive you into a shame cycle.

You’re not being judged. You’re being witnessed.

No trolling. No beauty bias. No algorithms pushing body dysmorphia for ad dollars.

You can post 2D or 3D versions of your outfits, experiment with digital looks, build your closet, and track your style evolution over time. It’s fashion tech reimagined, not to shape who you are, but to help you see yourself more clearly.

So What Is MIRROR | MIRROR?

MIRROR | MIRROR is a fashion tech platform. But really, it’s a mirror to the self.

Not the kind warped by algorithms. Not the kind filtered through colonial beauty standards. Not the kind that profits off your comparison and keeps you scrolling while slowly unraveling your confidence.

It’s the kind that sees you.The kind that reflects your individuality back at you.The kind that says, “You are already the blueprint.”

Built at the intersection of community, AI, and radical self-expression, MIRROR | MIRROR is the world’s first vote-powered style ecosystem designed with mental health and identity protection at its core.

Let me break it down:

1. Post Your Look. Get Real-Time Feedback. No Trolls.

This is where it all begins.

You post a photo of your outfit, 2D or full 3D, depending on your vibe and the community gives you real-time, supportive feedback through voting, not comments.

No trolling. No anonymous hate. No algorithmic shadowbanning of Black, Brown, or plus-size bodies.

The voting system is custom-built. It's not a recycled like-button. It’s emotional-expression-based, designed to validate and uplift without reducing you to a number.

We’re inventing a new digital language, one that protects your peace while still inviting genuine feedback.

2. Dorota, Your AI Stylist

Imagine an AI that doesn’t pressure you to follow trends but helps you define your own.

That’s Dorota, your built-in stylist and digital co-pilot.

Dorota learns your style, studies your closet, and understands your mood. She doesn’t just recommend outfits, she encourages evolution. She helps you dress for you.

Need outfit suggestions for a date, a panel talk, or a “don’t feel like being perceived today” kind of moment? Dorota’s got you. Not because she’s trained on influencer aesthetics, but because she’s trained to amplify who you already are.

She is soft tech. Designed to mirror, not manipulate.

3. 2D to 3D Outfit Modeling

In a world where your digital identity is starting to matter as much as your physical one, we’re not stopping at static.

MIRROR | MIRROR uses proprietary AI to convert your 2D photos into stunning 3D renderings of your looks, allowing you to explore style in motion, get feedback in a richer way, and envision your aesthetic evolution over time.

We’re not building the metaverse. We’re building your universe.

4. Crowdsourced Confidence, Not Popularity Contests

Our platform flips the influencer economy on its head.

Instead of chasing likes, you’re co-creating a fashion identity with a supportive, vote-powered community of style-lovers, thinkers, designers, and soft rebels.

You give feedback as much as you receive it. Your presence is valued regardless of your follower count. In fact, we don’t display follower numbers, because this isn’t about hierarchy. It’s about mutual discovery.

The real flex? Being yourself and being seen.

5. Digital Closet & Mood-Based Curation

Your wardrobe deserves a digital home that does more than take up cloud space.

With MIRROR | MIRROR, you build a smart digital closet that allows you to:

* Tag, sort, and preview your looks

* Track your emotional and aesthetic evolution over time

* Receive outfit recommendations based on your current mood and past favorites

It’s your aesthetic memory, archived and responsive.

6. Mental Health at the Center of the Experience

This is where we’re not like anything else out there.

Everything about MIRROR | MIRROR, from the absence of a visible popularity score, to the softness of our AI, to the community voting language, is designed to reduce anxiety, eliminate performative posting, and create digital space for self-love.

We know the damage Big Tech has caused. We’re engineering against it.

This is a fashion space where mental health isn’t an afterthought. It’s the foundation.

Not Just a Product. A Cultural Reclamation.

MIRROR | MIRROR is more than a style app. It’s an intentional space.

It’s a challenge to the systems that have told us who gets to be seen and celebrated.

It’s the future of fashion without the noise, where AI meets community meets healing, and individuality isn’t just allowed. It’s required.

We are reclaiming digital space as a place of reflection, empowerment, and radical style freedom.

The Cost of Being a Founder Who Doesn't Fit the Mold

I’m a solo founder. I’m a woman. I’m Black. I’m on the spectrum. I’m a member of the LGBTQ community. And I’m building MIRROR | MIRROR without the safety net that cushions so many in Silicon Valley.

Let me be blunt: Venture capital still doesn’t bet on people like me unless we’re already outperforming everyone else. And even then, they’d prefer we hand over control.

But control is the one thing I won’t surrender.

Because this platform isn’t just a business. It’s a form of resistance.

Every line of code, every feature, every product decision, I’m fighting for it. Fighting to keep it human. Fighting to keep it safe. Fighting to make sure no one gets erased on the way to "scaling."

I didn’t build this because I wanted another shiny app in the App Store. I built this because I’m tired of watching our generation internalize the idea that our worth is determined by likes, filters, and follower counts.

I built this because I want a future where technology reflects our complexity instead of compressing it. A future where you can be stylish and soft. Loud and unfiltered. Proud and vulnerable. All at once.

What This Series Will Be

This Founder Reflections series isn’t startup glamour. It’s not advice from the mountaintop.

It’s the real-time journey of someone building a billion-dollar company in direct defiance of Big Tech's values.

Each week, I’ll share:

* What I’m building behind the scenes (the product wins and the mess)

* The mental, emotional, and strategic decisions that don’t get talked about enough

* The power dynamics I’m navigating as a founder of color in a system that isn’t built for me to survive, much less thrive

* And the vision I refuse to compromise, no matter how long it takes to get this funded, launched, and scaled on my terms

I believe technology should make you more human, not less.

And MIRROR | MIRROR isn’t just an app. It’s a refusal.A refusal to be flattened.
