Intro to Revelation - You've Got to Know Your Old Testament!

In this episode Rob and Tim lay some of the foundation work for studying Revelation. They stress the importance of being familiar with the OT as one reads through the book. They also discuss the differing interpretive methods that people employ in reading the Revelation, and they provide the method that they agree with, and will be using, as they walk through the book.

We know that many will disagree with the approach that we take, but we hope that these episodes can still serve you well in your own personal study of Revelation.

Genesis 48-50 - The End of the Beginning: A Promised Hope for a Great Salvation

Rob and Tim also discuss some of the last words of Joseph, who has come to understanding of God's sovereignty, and how he has worked all things for good, despite the evil intentions of the heart of man. Genesis 35-36 - Don't Go East Young Man

We also look at the genealogy of Esau where we see some unsettling things. Esau has taken Canaanite wives, and he decides to move east, a direction that is symbolic of moving away from the blessing of the Lord. Things are not looking good for Esau.

Genesis 18-19 - Abraham the Priest

In this episode Rob and Tim discuss chapters 18 and 19 of Genesis. The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah have come up to God and it is time for Him to enact judgment upon the cities. Abraham, in a very similar way to priest, intercedes on behalf of the cities, asking God to deal mercifully with anyone who might be righteous. God rescues Lot and his family, much like he rescued Noah, from the oncoming judgment. Despite God's mercy and rescue, the hearts of Lot's family are still wicked.

In this episode Rob and Tim discuss the significance and importance of Genesis 1, especially as it relates to helping us understand and interpret the rest of the Bible. In the very first sentences of Genesis 1, we discover that the Bible is communicating to its readers incredible truths about who God is, and the fact that he has a purpose in what He is doing. And these truths point us to a number of patterns and themes that will be carried on throughout the narrative of scripture. Rob and Tim had a lot to say, so this will be a two part episode (at least).
