In partnership with rePurpose Global and through Planet Beautiful—our initiative with Sephora and 12 beauty brands—we’ve helped recover 1.45 million pounds of plastic, supporting not just cleanup efforts but community-driven solutions like job creation and upcycling programs in Lamu. Lauren Singer, our Head of Sustainability and Impact, sits down with rePurpose co-founder Svanika Balasubramanian to discuss the human side of the plastic crisis, where our waste really goes, and how systemic change is possible. As we work toward our goal of collecting five million pounds of plastic by 2027 through The Saie Climate Initiative, this conversation highlights the power of collective action—and the role each of us can play in creating meaningful change.

This is a public episode. In this episode, we introduce Lauren Singer, our new Head of Sustainability and Impact, whose role spans everything from communication to product design to long-term environmental responsibility. You may know her from Trash is for Tossers, but here, we explore what it means to scale her zero-waste philosophy across an entire company—and industry. Lauren and Laney discuss our 2025 Impact Report, the realities of beauty’s waste problem, and the systems we’re building through The Saie Climate Initiative and Planet Beautiful to create meaningful change. From accountability and emerging legislation to the limitations of recycling and the importance of transparency, this conversation is about what sustainability really looks like in practice—and why progress, not perfection, is the goal as we work to rethink beauty together.

This is a public episode. Since 2008, Credo has been leading the charge in pushing the beauty industry forward, asking hard questions about ingredients, sustainability, and responsibility in a space that produces an overwhelming amount of waste. To celebrate, Laney sat down with Credo co-founder and CEO Annie Jackson to talk about their shared belief that beauty can—and should—be done better. From Annie’s early days helping launch Sephora in the U.S. to building Credo as a destination for thoughtfully formulated, high-performing products you can experience in real life, the conversation covers everything from values and vetting brands to the growing demand for transparency and more sustainable packaging—plus the work both brands are doing with Pact to help tackle industry waste.

This is a public episode. It’s a human right. And yet, in America, that right is being chipped away with precision—state by state, law by law, cut by cut.

This fight feels deeply personal. Many of us have relied on the Planned Parenthood health center on Bleecker Street in New York City at one point or another. Now, with its closure, we’ve felt the impact firsthand.

And Alexis McGill Johnson knows this struggle intimately. As President and CEO of Planned Parenthood, she leads the nation’s largest provider of sexual and reproductive healthcare, including pregnancy testing and counseling, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, contraception, abortion care, mental health support, and more. Alexis has been involved with the organization’s leadership for more than 15 years, through some of the most challenging, high-stakes moments in recent history.

When we recorded this episode, we were talking about a potential federal defund of Medicaid and Planned Parenthood. Last month, President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into law. Hundreds of Planned Parenthood health centers are at potential risk of closing, cutting off access to birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing, and so much more for millions of people.

Planned Parenthood didn’t sit quietly. They sued to block the measure, and a federal judge stepped in with a nationwide preliminary injunction. That means clinics can keep billing Medicaid while the case unfolds.

In our conversation, Alexis and Laney talk about what’s at stake, how we got here, and the tangible actions that can help push back against this moment.

If you take away just one thing, let it be this: go to imforpp.org. There, you’ll find the tools to contact your senators, support your local health centers, and help keep care within reach for everyone.

This is about more than politics. It’s about our bodies, our futures, and the shared responsibility we all carry to protect them. Stay informed, get involved, and raise your voice to defend healthcare as a fundamental right.

Thanks for standing with us,

Team Saie

Thanks for stopping by!
