Scott Hall: The Bad Guy

WWE Hall Of Famer Scott Hall passed away on Monday, March 14, due to complications stemming from a recent hip surgery. Post surgery, he suffered three heart attacks and was under life support, which was eventually cut off, allowing him to pass.

Hall leaves behind a legacy both inside and outside of the wrestling ring, but no one can sum up Hall’s legacy quite like the man himself did during his 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame induction:

“Hard work pays off, dreams come true. Bad times don’t last, but bad guys do.”

I can honestly say I never even considered life without the former Razor Ramon popping up here and there, always being a fixture—even fringe—in the wrestling business.

Now he’s gone, forcing me to reevaluate my own interpretation of “…but bad guys do.”

How will we be remembered?

Scott Hall has now permanently moved into our memories, a residence he has furnished quite well. But those furnishings should also serve as a motivator and a guide, for us to craft a life for ourselves that will be undeniable, unforgettable, and of course…

Unstoppable.

Being Calm Under Pressure

Love him or hate him, reigning NFL MVP and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the shining example of “calm Under Pressure.” Listen in as I explore exactly why Rodgers gives off the aura of calmness needed to succeed in any situation, along with my own experience receiving feedback in this same competency.

But it’s not enough to identify this skill—how do we cultivate it?

I apply another sports philosophy in its simplest form to show you how to cultivate calmness under pressure:

Practice.

How do you practice this? Putting yourself in challenging and uncomfortable situations, on purpose. Be it mental, emotional, physical or otherwise, this is how you develop this trait.

Take Control Of Your Situation

This episode of the Weekly Wake-Up Call was originally going to be titled “You Are In Control Of Your Situation,” or something similar. And I am sure, in my head, it was going to be amazing. But as I (mentally) planned it out, I realized I would be doing you a disservice. I realized something HUGE about being in control of your situation.

I left out the most important step…

We often have a hard time dealing with strife in our lives (and we all have strife) because we don’t feel in control. THAT is the first step: Take Control.

Once you have mentally taken control, you can tackle it, whatever “it” is. You can do it in steps, but not until you take control.

On this week’s edition of The #Miranda Show, Miranda decided she wasn’t going to tell me what was planned for the show (not the first time), but that she was enacting the Miranda Rights—where she basically gets to make me do whatever she wants.

This time around I wasn’t complaining, as Miranda played a fantasy booking game: she pulled two names out of a (friendly Halloween) bucket, and I had to, in real time, book the feud to their eventual match.

Check out some of the matches she pulled out:

* Becky Lynch vs. 1988 NWA stars The Fanstastics

* Nikita Koloff vs. Bayley

* The Invisible Man vs. Surfer Sting

That last one features a twist that no one saw coming, especially Miranda. I was proud of that one. More pairings are discussed outside of those four, so tune in and just get distracted for 53 good minutes!

The Weirdest WrestleMania…Ever.

We’re less than two weeks away from the Granddaddy Of Them All, WrestleMania! It’s a strange time in our world, and that means it’s a strange time for WrestleMania. Hell, it’s kinda strange that WrestleMania is even happening, and every time I watch wrestling—any wrestling—I feel like I’m in some movie about a dystopia that we’re trapped in…

…and I guess that’s not so far from the truth?
