Today is the New Moon in Gemini. Both Sol & Luna are together in this incredibly social and vibrant air sign, encouraging us earthlings to get out into the world and welcome in new ideas, activities, and connections.

The Tri- State area is feeling this energy especially this week! We have the Knicks in the NBA finals, the FIFA World Cup has begun, the Hare Krishna festival AND the Puerto Rican Day Parade! All of these have fallen in this short stretch of time turning the 5 boroughs into one GIANT party!

Around the world, it’s been amazing to see camaraderie of countries for the World Cup and vibrant displays of patriotism. I’m especially loving the romance between Korea and Mexico, along with the incredible fashions of the DR of Congo and Cote D’Ivoire celebrating the beauty of African history.

All of this is immensely Gemini in nature. A sign with a remarkably open mind, always curious, always wanting to learn more, do more, and connect with ways of life different than their own. Ruled by Mercury, planet of communication, Gemini is the hopeful messenger, showing us the beauty that comes with community.

In tarot, Gemini is paired with VI. The Lovers, a card all about connection. When The Lovers appear, it can be a sign that a new relationship is near, or even a new commitment through an activity/hobby that can bring new connections into your life. It is also a card of choice, reminding us to love ourselves first and the rest will follow.

When The Lovers appear, I often think of the early days of a romance. The honeymoon phase is in full effect, the rose colored glasses imbue everything with beauty. This phase is so important for establishing a strong bond, for memory making, and chemistry. But, as we know, the honeymoon phase does eventually pass, ideally setting us up for success with a firm foundation for life’s harsher realities.

While Gemini is youthful and hopeful energy, it does mature as the sign progresses. We see this through Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, with his numerous multitudes in mythology of a young page boy delivering messages of hope, to a gatekeeper between the realm of the living and dead.

Each decan of Gemini holds new lessons and truths. Every sign has 3 decans, dividing a total of 30 degrees. The decans help us best organize astrological phases as the planets progress through them. This New Moon in Gemini is taking place in the 3rd decan (@ 24 degrees), a more grown, realistic, and mature energy.

While The Lovers is synonymous with the full sign, the last decan is paired with a totally different type of tarot card - The 10 of Swords.

The 10 of Swords is typically a very dreaded card to have appear in a pull. It’s right up there with Death and The Devil as far as invoking a strong reaction from a novice querant. And it’s no wonder why, as the classic Rider Waite Smith artwork shows an individual, face down with ten swords in their back.

However, all these cards hold multitudes! You can read this article I wrote about The Devil and all the ways it’s messages have helped me in my life’s journey here for an example.

The classic understandings for the 10 of Swords can point to themes of:

* Endings or sudden change.

* To feeling at your lowest, especially from a mental standpoint.

* Facing a hard truth that brings an ending to a situation

* Defeat

In the middle of these jubilant past couple days, the 10 of Swords has shown up in pulls for myself and others, but for deeper reasons than the the ones mentioned above.

In this card’s multiplicity, it can speak to themes of exhaustion that we cause ourselves, like over exhausting a situation, replaying a scenario, doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome. AKA themes of self induced INSANITY.

When the good times are rolling, it can bring up past hurts in a private way, In the midst of a celebration, we may be reminded of heartbreak, or even recognize patterns in new connections that could result in similar outcomes of the past.

In one of my readings with a Leo rising, we focused on the topic of friendship (this has been especially prominent as explored in this post). The 10 of Swords made itself known and we discussed the repeated habits, archetypes, and situations that have played out over and over in this area of her life. Each time her intuition knew the outcome but hoped for something different.

With this New Moon in Gemini, her 11th house of friendships, the 10 of Swords is encouragement of meeting her comrades where they are, not expecting them to be what they’e not, and making the choice if she wants to continue being in that connection.

For me, I’ve witnessed my mind wandering back to past Gemini seasons, my 7th house of committed relationships, when love was new and everything so hopeful. My mind has wandered into dark corners of shame and hurt, replaying scenarios I wish I had handled differently for the millionth time. Even memories I thought I’d made peace with being revisited and hashed out. Mind you, this has all happened during times where I’ve been having so much fun. Hello Gemini’s two faces!

Yesterday the 10 of Swords came out in a personal pull, and I heard the phrase ‘Stop beating a dead horse!’ As a horse girlie, this imagery hit hard. I’m continuing to punish myself for no reason. I’m continuing to pick at a scab that is nearly healed. No one is inflicting this abuse on me but me.

It’s time to acknowledge those thoughts and send them off with kindness. There’s no need to continue stabbing myself in the back with 10 Swords.

As we roll through the final week of Gemini season, may you enjoy this sign for all its jubilant, optimistic, and sunshiny camaraderie. May you remember to choose kindness in the flurry of excited chaos currently taking place. You never know what could be going on in the minds of those around you even while experiencing so much joy.

This New Moon and the 10 of Swords let us know that we are deserving of a new beginning, that we can let go of old hurts, of lingering memories, and outdated habits. They’re a sign to choose and love ourselves first, for in true love, there is no want or need of self inflicted hurt.

Last week, I arrived back to the states after a month of travels in the Dominican Republic. I visited 10 prominent Dominican cities, traveling from the South East to the North West, staying at 4 AirBnb’s and 2 friend’s homes.

I logged hundreds of kilometers of road time. For the first two weeks, in my own little car, weaving through small barrios, stopping at roadside parador’s and driving alongside horses and tractors. Then with Caribe Tours, the islands exceptional version of Greyhound, where I traveled with locals from city to city, sharing galletas 🍪 and stories in the back of the bus .

Every corner of the island is vastly different from the next. All of them remarkably beautiful, rich in biodiversity, culture, music, art and energy!

A Venusian Connection

I’ve had an exceptionally strong pull towards the Caribbean islands over the last couple years. This started with my travels to Saint Martin in 2024 (which I wrote about AT LENGTH in this article about the color yellow) and was solidified during a solo trip to Puerto Rico at the end of 2024 (see more of that trip here.)

These vacations were full of heightened spiritual activity, magical circumstances I couldn’t explain. They presented remarkable connections with like minded individuals and aligned opportunities of artistic and creative proportions.

Curiosity led me to explore my astrocartography of this area and what I found amazed me:

Smack dab in the middle of the waters between Puerto Rico and República Dominicana is my Venus Ascendant line!

What The Heck Is Astrocartography?

Before I progress any further, it’s important to know what astrocartography is. You can think of it as Locational Astrology. In the briefest terms, it’s the study of your birth chart overlaid on the world’s map to understand different hot spots that align (or misalign) with your energy.

You know how when accessing your chart, your birth date, time, and location is needed? The location plays a huge role as it establishes your personal angles:

* The ASC -Ascendant - What constellation was rising on the eastern horizon at your time of birth

* The DC - Descendant - What constellation was setting on the western horizon

* The IC - Imum Coeli - What constellation sits in the southern position

* The MC - Midheaven - What constellation sits in the northern position

If born in a different area of the world, your angles would change, and with it, the house order of your entire birth chart! This would create new and different interactions with planets, asteroids and the nodes that are not as prominent in your birth location, and in turn fire up new realities and perspectives. In astrocartography, it’s acknowledged that the land holds these energies.

Ever wonder why you’re drawn to a place you’ve never visited, or fascination and love of a culture that is not your own? Why you perhaps have felt uncomfortable or agitated in a location or completely at ease in another? Astrocartography sheds light on this.

This study helps us understand what life themes and energies are prominent around the world for us. It’s an incredible tool to use when mapping out vacation plans, understanding ancestry and cultural connections, or even planning a relocation that aligns with life goals.

Learning my Venus ASC line goes straight through The Greater Antilles was a major revelation! Suddenly, I had context for the magical occurrences I experienced, the aligned connections, the fruitful opportunities.

On a Venus line, it’s believed Venusian themes are heightened of love, beauty, relationships, pleasure, ease and abundance. This is Empress, Lakshmi, Aphrodite, Oshun energy! Attracting your desires rather than chasing. And the ASC line speaks to all themes of the self, radiating this energy from inside and out. I’ll take it!

In astrocartography, this energy is felt as far as 200 miles in all directions of a planetary line and (for many placements) is thought to be most benefic on the western side.

All of this aided in the decision to head to the DR. And not just for another quick trip, but for a true, significant stay to understand and experience the energy on a deeper level. This is recommended by one of my favorite astrologers who specializes in astrocartography, Saki Savavi. Especially when considering an area for relocation. More time means experiencing the energy in fuller breadth, establishing realistic routines, and ensuring deeper understanding of cultural customs and politics. Just because you have prominent astro placement in an area does not mean that you have authority or can breeze over the real world events taking place in that region.

An Intuitive Draw

For the past 18 years, I’ve lived in a hot spot of the world when it comes to my personal astrocartography. Here in the Tri-State area, I live right on top of my Jupiter DC line, and am within the energy of my Neptune AC, Saturn AC, Uranus AC, and Chiron DC lines.

Ever since I was a child growing up in San Diego, CA, I always wanted to move to the East Coast, specifically Manhattan, and right after high school graduation at 18, I made the move.

Of course, this was decades before I began studying astrology and had any idea this area held prominent energy for me. The initial draw was the culture, style and artistic career opportunities. But even more than that, I knew I had an unexplainable urge and need to get my physical body to this area of the world.

As I do more astrocartography readings, I’m finding this is very common. After all, we are intuitive beings.

For one of my clients who lives half the year in Sweden, this area of the world is the busiest of her chart, containing 10+ astrological lines.

Another client’s busiest areas all land in locations she’s had on her travel list for years.

Astrocartography also gives insight to our ancestral ties and even our most committed partners cultures as well.

The client who lives in Sweden was wowed to see that her Venus IC line goes directly through the area her partner was born.

My Sun AC line charts the exact course of my ancestors migration, cutting through Arizona and northern Mexico.

With 18 years experience living in a prominent area of my chart, I can say I’ve experienced all the qualities of the Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune and Chiron lines. These years have held Jupiter’s abundance and expansion, Uranus’ brainy and experimental qualities, Saturn’s dedication with restriction, Neptune’s theatricality and escapism, and Chiron’s ability to work through pain and turn it into purpose by teaching others.

I love EVERYTHING I’ve built in this current energy, but I acknowledge that I owe it to myself to experience and try something new. That in this life, I want to learn and grow in all my multitudes.

The pull to go to the Caribbean was there regardless, but knowing my astrocartography has given greater context to my wants and needs for this next chapter.

Venus is vastly different from the masculine planets mentioned above. She’s all love, beauty, romance and art! She rules the signs of Taurus and Libra, two signs of high aesthetics, fine taste and sensuality.

In my chart as a Sag rising, my Venus is in Capricorn, meaning my Venus ASC line fires up themes of my second house, relating to physical possessions, assets and values (Capricorn), 6th house of routine, health, pets (Taurus) and 11th house of friends and groups (Libra).

So, after a month in the gorgeous Republica Dominicana, is the Venus ASC line all it’s thought to be?

Here are my notes ✏️:

Beauty - The DR has no shortage of what I consider BEAUTIFUL! Rich in nature and biodiversity, everything is ALIVE! The plants, wildlife, ocean, sunsets - all ripe, juicy and birthing constant energy.

All of Taurus’ and Capricorn’s earth energy is present - especially Taurus’s very sexy and sensual quality. Everywhere you turn is a feast and all senses are stimulated - from the heat creating dewy sweat beads on the skin, to vibrant colors, flavorful foods, and music always pumping from a nearby speaker that makes you want to MOVE.

The country is also RICH in manmade design with remarkable Spanish and Creole architecture in the main cities. Fine design preferences are a staple for both Libra and Taurus and the DR has it.

Attracting Opportunities - It’s thought that on a Venus line, the things that you desire desire you. Aligned opportunities are drawn to you without the need to chase them.

During my short week trip to Puerto Rico in 2024, I unexpectedly closed my largest commission of the year.

On my first day in Punta Cana, I began talks about throwing a future event with a prominent tourist spot. I had a private tour of the country’s top artist residency in Altos De Chavón during the first week of my stay. And at the end of my trip in Cabarete, I made new friends in wellness and photography that I look forward to collaborating with in the future.

Romance and Relationships - Let me tell ya, I had a great time in this area! I went on two dates during my stay, and to be honest, if I wanted to, I could have gone on a date nearly every single night. I met people, and especially men, EVERYWHERE. Anytime I planned to be alone to enjoy lunch or beach time, I’d hear someone calling me.

‘Rubia, Rubia!’

Half the time I declined, but the other half led to enjoyable connections and conversations.

In platonic connections, the first week, I made a new friend, Maria, who kindly invited me to her home to have lunch one day with she and her children. I will cherish this experience forever.

The romantic dates I went on had deeper themes at play then just surface level connections. A Venus line is thought to close out repeating cycles and open more aligned channels in relationships and I found this to be eerily on the nose.

My first date represented a similar archetype to who I’ve dated in the past and all I desire to shed.The second date was with someone very different, and while not 100% aligned, much more in tune with the qualities I’m looking for. After the date finished, it felt like a new door was opened.

Last but not least: Spiritual Connection - Magic is EVERYWHERE in DR, felt most through the rich natural world. My fascination and love of Taíno studies and the Cemí, Atabey, are easily accessed here, along with experiencing activity from the Orisha’s Oshun, Oya, and Yemaya (read how prominent she was in my most recent article 🐚).

My intuition was extremely heightened during my time there and its continued even after I’ve returned stateside. I feel as if I’ve been given a new set of eyeballs, seeing my surroundings in a completely new way.

So do I think the Venus line is all that and more? Yes, yes I do.

However, this doesn’t mean the trip was all roses. A Venus line requires you to confront weakened boundaries and faulty structures. In the midst of all the beautiful connections, I experienced offers and attention I did NOT want, which forced me to firmly communicate in two languages.

I got fooled and scammed in money dealings twice (hello second house themes) and even got food poisoning from bad pork resulting in a day in the ER, something I attribute to 6th house themes combined with Taurus’ love of overindulging.

These hiccups however made me stronger, wiser and more discerning. They enriched the trip in their own unique way and made me appreciate the islands extreme beauty that much more.

Now back in the states, I can hardly believe that the month of travels is over. It was a 6 month in the making excursion and it feels surreal to be on the other side.

Given the chance, I’d do it all over again, even the mucky parts. It is hands down the best decision I have ever made for myself and I HIGHLY encourage anyone out there to take a leap and travel on your own. The personal discovery solo travel reveals is unparalleled.

This trip revealed SO many answers for my path forward. It confirmed my longing to live a slower and more tropical lifestyle, and has given me the confidence to know I’m capable and deserving of bringing that dream to life.

It’s been a moment since my last transmission. At this point, you may know that I’ve been out of the US for two weeks, and still have about two more of exploration before returning stateside.

Words and images can never express how grateful I am to be spending my time in the absolutely beautiful República Dominicana. The energy, color, people, animals, plants, ocean and sky have been some of the most beautiful I’ve ever laid my eyes on. One day feels like five, holding countless stories, interactions and memories.

The most profound instances have been the clear symbols and messages from my surroundings: Dreams from months ago lived out, sites and locations from meditations being stumbled upon in waking life.

The loudest messages of all have come from one of my favorite things to scavenge for while on the beach - shells. 🐚

On the fourth day of my journey, I had just arrived in Bayahibe, a sweet and tiny beach town on the south east of the island. I was walking in search of Playa Bahayibe, past rows of fisherman’s boats, cafes and souvenir shops.

A table with the largest and most beautiful conch shells stopped me in my tracks, and a local appeared to try to sell me one.

‘Rubia, rubia! Escucha a las caracoles.’

I quickly let him know that, while absolutely stunning, I’m on my way to the beach and am not interested in purchasing.

He holds one up close to my ear in insistence, ‘Escucha, escucha!’

I lean in and in english he says, ‘What do you hear?’

‘Magia’ I say.

‘More specific’ he says. His eyes twinkled.

‘I hear Yemaya and Olokun.’

‘Eso. Ashe!’

About six months ago, I had a dream where I was running down a street I’d never been before. There was a slight feeling of angst, being in new surroundings. I was in search of something, but couldn’t find it. What the ‘it’ was, I didn’t know.

I ran past house after house, all blue and white. In my nervousness, I noticed that every house had a shell on its front porch, whether as part of the architecture placed above the door, or scattered through a garden. This sighting calmed me down and centered me. Yes, I was in a new place, but there was nothing to fear.

When arriving at my airbnb in Bayahibe, just hours after my interaction with the salesman, I was stunned and delighted at what I found. Shells placed on patio’s, above front doors, as decorations in tenant’s gardens.

The homes weren’t blue and white, but pink and white, the exact shades I associate with my grandmother Betty. The Spanish architecture and layout of the condos even reminded me of her home, a space that was a sanctuary for me in my early years.

In every place I’ve stayed and explored on this trip, shells have found me. From the sweet condo in Bayahibe, to deep in the jungle of Las Terrenas. I’ve seen them used as decoration, door stoppers, and wind chimes.

I’ve learned that in the north of the island, Playa Bonita has shells of pink and red. On the south, sculptural rocks and fossils dominate the ocean over the classic shell shape.

Every time I see one unexpectedly, I know I’m safe. I feel my grandmothers and the Orishas of the deep protecting me. Just like a crab that wears home on their back in a shell, they remind me that while I explore, I am always safe at home within myself.

In Yemaya: Orisha, Goddess and Queen of the Sea, author Raven Morgaine tells a pataki (story) of Yemaya’s immense connection to shells.

In the early days of creation, Yemaya sings day and night to the humans of the earth. Her song is so beautiful, so full of nurturance and comfort, that they become distracted from all other duties, and the land suffers for it.

Obatala, The Father of the World, summons Yemaya to let her know that she can no longer sing to the humans. However, he gives her freedom to explore other ways of sharing her voice.

Yemaya dives to the depths of the ocean and finds a beautiful conch shell. She sings her song straight into it, and fills its chambers with her magic. When it’s full of sound, she heads to the surface of the waters and hands the shell to her human children.

‘In times of loneliness and sadness, when you most need my comfort, when you need to be reminded of my love for you - but only when your work is done - put this shell to your ears and you will hear me singing.’

It’s believed this is why we hear the sound of the ocean in seashells. It is Yemaya’s gift to mankind.

Signs, symbols and messages are everywhere for us if we’re open to them. We never wander alone.

I knew this trip would expand my mind, but the comforting element is that in the expansion, I am brought right back to home, right to my roots, even if physically in a new environment.

I realize now that in my dream, I was searching for a sense of belonging, and each time I see a shell, no matter where I am, I know I’ve found it.

The card?

The Eight of Cups.

The Eight of Cups is one of those remarkably complex and easily misunderstood cards in the Minor Arcana.

In my most used deck, Radiant Wilds, author + artist Nat Girschberger describes this card as one intoning to journey within. The artwork is of a suited figure beginning a winding walk through space, surrounded by the black abyss of the cosmos.

In Pamela Love’s Infinite Door Deck, this card is described as one of disappointment, abandonment and searching to fill a void.

In Secrets of Paradise Tarot, artist Laura Bello portrays a pirate of the Caribbean leaving a discovered treasure chest behind, instead choosing to follow a mermaid into the sea.

I’ll be the first to say that reading tarot for myself is, at times, way more challenging then it is pulling cards for others. In my readings with others, I can quickly piece together a message, loop in astrology, symbolism, and speak on it. But with myself, I’m inside the house. A message is oftentimes shadowed with my own biases and it may take multiple readings, coupled with life’s lessons, to finally receive the message.

Each time the card revealed itself, I’d go over what I knew:

* The suit of Cups connects to the element of water and encourages observing our emotional world.

* The 8 of Cups aligns specifically with the first decan of Pisces ( 0 - 9 degrees / falling around February 18 - 28).

* It is ruled by the structured planet of Saturn (great for my Saturn in Pisces friends who just completed their Saturn Return).

* It signifies leaving behind something when feeling unfulfilled/ encourages spending more time on your own to gain clarity.

It wasn’t until I read Tarot for Change by Jessica Dore that it began to click.

The 8 of Cups isn’t just about ‘feeling’, it’s a card of action.

The 8 in tarot, after all, is first connected with Strength, a fiery card aligned with the constellation of Leo. This card often boasts artwork of a woman with her hand in the mouth of a ferocious lion.

Turn 8 on its side and you have the infinity symbol, the same symbol floating above The Magician’s head in the 1st card of the Major Arcana, showcasing the ability of choosing one’s own destiny.

In Tarot for Change, Dore explores the fascinating connection between tarot and modern psychology practices of somatic work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT). A hell of a read if I do say so myself!

In a fascinating summary of the 8 of Cups, Dore focuses not on the specifics of the card, but instead the importance of adopting coping mechanisms. She points out how those who have healthy coping mechanisms in their back pocket respond to change in much better ways than those who don’t. They possess the confidence to leave misaligned circumstances, knowing no matter how hard the aftermath may be, they’ll be better for it.

This angle really struck a cord with me, landing the cards meaning in a completely new way. The 8 of Cups reveals itself when we feel something SO strongly, it forces us to walk, to leave a current circumstance behind in search for the new. Even if our present state looks great on paper, attractive to others, and/or is full of material wealth, the 8 of Cups speaks to a longing for something more, and a deep knowing that it’s out there, even if we can’t see it yet.

The pirate chooses to leave the tangible reality of found treasure to follow the fantastical mermaid, symbolizing that his dreams are more important to pursue. In Pamela Coleman-Smith’s classic artwork, a figure leaves behind 8 overflowing cups and heads off in the other direction. There is no clear path where they walk, only rough, unearthed terrain. Practical thinking is out the window with this card. It is all about pure instinct and intuition.

In Fall 2024, I was sitting on a park bench with my then boyfriend. This person possessed so much of what I thought I wanted, especially when it came to long term lifestyle choices - an artist, a lover of NYC with no plans to move, stylish, charismatic. I was beginning to see cracks in the foundation, and not just with him, but myself. After 16 years of city living, I was suddenly having visions of nature, grand adventures miles from civilization, time at sea, a home in the jungle. He spoke of his desire to be in galleries, at crowded events, and opening exhibit parties. I wanted him to have all of that, but I knew I wouldn’t be there. That I’d already lived that reality, and save for an occasional event here and there, that that time had expired.

‘I think I need to go to Puerto Rico, and I need to go alone.’ I heard myself say.

He was supportive of my solo travels, but it didn’t save the relationship. The cracks were too deep. Not even two weeks later, I called off the relationship and booked a trip for the following month.

I’ve always had an adventurous spirit. I’m a Sagittarius after all! True to the signs muted nature, throughout life I’ve been able to flow and adapt, to shift projects, careers, relationships, jobs, you name it. My mom always tells the story of my first day in NYC at 18. My parents offered to walk me the 20 blocks to school and I said, ‘no, I got it!’, turned on my heels and didn’t look back once.

But as I’ve gotten older, that same ‘devil may care’ attitude has lessened. The stakes get higher and responsibilities are greater as we age. Leaving a situation, even when I KNOW it’s misaligned, is more daunting and requires a tremendous amount of strength, a remarkable inner conviction.

That’s why Dore’s focus on the importance of coping mechanisms is especially poignant. Her summary focuses on the aftermath of the card, after you’ve taken the steps to leave for the unknown. For those that have done this before, you may know that things often work out better than you could have imagined, even with the inevitable unforeseen or unplanned occurrences. After all, the 8 is followed by the 9 of Cups, a card of thankfulness for current circumstances. And then the 10 of cups, perhaps one of the greatest cards to pull in the deck, signifying a fairytale happy outcome.

I was reminded of the times I’ve done this myself and always have been better for it.

Fortune favors the brave. Risk taking is required in this life. It took bravery to leave that relationship a year and a half ago. Not only did I love the person, but leaving symbolized walking away from a reality I thought I wanted.

The 8 of Cups appeared for me in many pulls then, but it didn’t stop showing up.

That trip to Puerto Rico changed my life. It brought new perspectives and awakened new realities for my next chapter. And ever since, I’ve had the internal, undeniable feeling that big shifts must be made.

And so, I am channeling a bit of my youthful spirit and taking a big leap. From April - May, I’m headed back to the Caribbean. This time, the gorgeous island of the Dominican Republic. I’m shocking my system with a totally new routine during this time, implementing both work and play in my agenda.

The purpose of this whole trip is to just BE in this new environment. To confirm if my inner wanderlust and yearning for a more natural way of existing is aligned. And if so, it’s full speed ahead to move there in 2027.

‘Am I doing the right thing?!’ I asked myself for the THOUSANDTH time during a personal read. Out shot the 8 of Cups, face up, landing in the center of the table.

The answer is clear. It’s time to adventure into the unknown.

The wheel turns again!

My creative practice has always lived at the intersection of art, design, intuition, and education, and sometimes those worlds collide in the most magical ways!

Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite projects and color consultancies of 2025: A beautiful apartment refresh in Midtown East, Manhattan.

Where Color Became a Superpower

Since 2021, I’ve been offering color consultancies. Curious what color to paint your space? I’m your girl to help with that!

Around that time, I began working in fine paints and color at powerhouse, Farrow&Ball, and something in my mind cracked open.

Talking about color every day, guiding people through it, helping them understand it… sparked a realization: I could see people, places, and emotions as color!

My third eye burst open. I went down the rabbit hole of psychological research and gained language for something I’d experienced my entire life: sound, taste, people, ENERGY as color. I learned I have synesthesia.

This realization brought out a slew of intuitive skills that took years to train (I’m still learning!) and has become my creative superpower. I can read the energetic palette of a person or space and translate it into environments that feel aligned, expansive, and alive.

I’m blessed to also be in good company! Many artists have synesthesia, even long before this mental ability had a name. Cynthia Erivo in a recent interview spoke about how she experiences sound as color and many owners of paint brands, as well as fellow color consultants also share this skill like Emily of Swish Colour.

That discovery carried me through several incredible years in the paint and design world between 2020–2024, leading to beautiful projects like the one featured in Architectural Digest and mentions in The New York Times and Curbed NY. Each project deepened my belief that color is not just aesthetic—it’s energetic architecture.

The Midtown East Transformation

This particular consultancy was special because it wasn’t just a room refresh—it was an entire home evolution.

My clients hadn’t repainted their apartment in over a decade, and the space was ready for its next chapter. It was asking for something more refined, comforting and sophisticated.

My color consultancies go deep. I don’t just show up with paint swatches—I guide clients through a sensory exploration.

We talk about:

* what colors they gravitate toward in art and travel

* the sounds they love

* flavors and textures they find comforting

* materials that feel grounding or luxurious

* the energetic rhythm of their daily life

I also consider the architecture of the space, light direction, existing furniture, and personal energetic signatures to build a completely custom palette.

For this home, I leaned into decadent tones that felt rich and romantic—colors reminiscent of chocolate, champagne, and warm thoughtful neutrals.

But the star of the transformation?

The bathroom.

We used Benjamin Moore’s Saint Martin Sand, a color that instantly evokes a tropical warmth, like golden light bouncing off sun-kissed stone. Walking into the room now feels like stepping into a quiet island moment.

The couple shared that they love Gaudí’s architecture and the deep, emotional sound of the cello—two inspirations that subtly informed the palette. Organic forms, warmth, sensuality, and rhythm all found their way into the design.

The result is a home that feels elevated, soulful, and deeply personal.

Projects like this remind me that color is one of the most powerful tools we have to shift how a space feels—and by extension, how we feel within it.

This week’s collective tarot reading came in hot… and honestly? We need it.

We’ve blasted into February like a lightening bolt surging through the sky!

Get Your Hands In The Mud! 🏺

The second bit of info I’m eager to share is that my 4 week Sculpting course is back, baby! We’re doing it again!

Starting this Friday, February 6th, at Betty’s Ceramics Club in downtown Jersey City, I’ll be teaching four weeks of ceramic handbuilding and sculpture. Back in October, I led a mythology themed course, and this time we’re focusing on two of my favorite A words - Clay Artifacts and Architecture.

Join me to learn the ancient and fundamental techniques of pinching, coiling, carving and slab work as we explore the marvelous and ingenious ways clay has been used to provide shelter, utility and beauty.

Here’s a sneak preview of one of our first projects, inspired by the ancient Egyptian trend of adding human traits to items of utility. The Bowl with Human Feet is a discovery from the Predynastic Era, ca. 3700–3450 B.C. I love to see how humanity has always had a sense of humor!

Depending on where this reaches you, there’s a good chance that if you looked out your window today, you’d see an active winter wonderland. For a large portion of the U.S., Winter Storm Fern has touched down, transforming the landscape into a temporary Arctic front.

As I type, sideways snow blankets my backyard. I pray for safety, warmth, and shelter for all in the coming days as we learn to navigate life in this shifting environment.

In the days leading up to the storm, I had a strong certainty that it would be big. This wasn’t only due to Mother Nature’s warnings of extreme yo-yoing in temperature, but also because of the loud astrology unfolding above us.

Yes, astrology can influence the weather. Sailors and farmers have relied on the wisdom of the stars since the dawn of time to guide crop rotation, wind and rain patterns, and navigation, to name just a few uses.

When there’s heavy water energy (transits in Pisces, Cancer and/or Scorpio), get out the wellies and expect rain. Fire energy (Aries, Leo and/or Sagittarius) can result in hot weather, volcanic eruptions and/or forest fires. This starts to get even more specific when you layer in planetary transits into the mix.

Of course, location and ecosystem play a major role in how cosmic weather expresses itself. If a transit strongly activates a city or country’s birth chart or astrocartography (yes, places have charts too), or if the region is an energetic “hot spot,” physical manifestations through weather are more likely.

The reason I knew Winter Storm Fern would be significant is because multiple transits this week all point back to one liiiiitttllle—but powerful—planet: Pluto.

How can a tiny dwarf planet nearly 2.66 billion miles from Earth have such an impact?

If you caught my recent post, Hades Has Entered the Chat, you know Pluto is a major player in our current sky. Syncretized with the Roman god Pluto (Hades to the Greek), the ‘Overlord of the Underworld’. He represents things unseen/hidden in plain sight, and all themes of power - personal power, power distribution, dynamics & struggles, and the people in power.

Because of his distance from the Sun, Pluto is considered a generational planet, lingering in a single sign up to 30 years and shaping the collective psyche.

This week, however, Pluto made contact with the inner planets—the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars—as they each entered Aquarius. One by one, these personal planets confronted the feisty king of the underworld, bringing Pluto’s themes into our everyday lives.

Pluto surfaces what’s uncomfortable. “Icky” is the word I’ve used far too often this week. He drags up the muck—the residue swept under the rug for too long. Pluto brings reckoning, asking us to face discomfort so we can gain wisdom. His question is simple: Now that you know better, how will you proceed?

Affecting our public image (Sun), communication and community (Mercury), relationships and values (Venus), and decision-making (Mars), Pluto has stirred immense collective intensity, likely mirrored in your personal life as well.

Think heartless ICE raids and mass protests resisting them. Continued senseless deaths fueled by power-hungry individuals clinging to collapsing systems.

These examples are U.S.-centric for a reason. America is at the very beginning of its Pluto return—a once-every-250-year transit. Pluto is exposing the nation’s uncomfortable edges so transformation can occur.

On a personal level, Pluto’s lessons have been relentless since Monday, impacting my work, dating life, and friendships. I encountered multiple situations that demanded self-advocacy—otherwise resigning to being a doormat. I chose the former. While exhausted, I stand taller, more protective of myself and those I love, acutely aware of my personal power.

And then—the cherry on top of all this Pluto activity: the snow.

Pluto has a fascinating relationship with winter. While we often associate the underworld with fire and heat, extreme cold shares similar qualities: burning, chaffing and chapping. Winter bares everything down to its bones so something new can emerge.

Pluto/Hades connection to winter comes from a well known story in Greek mythos when the underworld ruler visits earth and sees Persephone, the beautiful daughter of Demeter. Hades captures Persephone and takes her to the underworld to be his bride without her consent, and even the knowledge of her mother.

Demeter, Goddess of the grain and harvest, searches across the earth to find Persephone, unaware of what happened. She finally learns Hades captured her, and begs Zeus to barter with Hades to bring her back.

But while Persephone is in the underworld, she eats pomegranate seeds, not knowing that the act of consuming binds her to Hades’ realm for all of eternity.

As a compromise, Zeus and Hades agree that Persephone will remain Hades’ wife and live with him half the year in the underworld, and half the year with her mother on earth. It is believed that while Persephone is away from Demeter, the Goddess strips the earth of grain and harvest, bringing extreme cold and snow.

In the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, Demeter and Persephone have their own asteroids, recognized by both astronomers and astrologers alike. Out of curiosity, in the approaching days of Winter Storm Fern, I took a look on astro.com where both goddess asteroids are in the sky.

Pluto at 3° Aquarius sits in near-exact opposition to asteroid Demeter at 0° Leo. And Persephone? She’s closer to Hades in Pisces, across the galaxy from her mother.

Do I believe this storm is a showdown between Hades and Demeter, given their opposing placements? A ‘You took my daughter, so now you pay!’ type of revenge energy? Not necessarily. I more so view all the things that have taken place this week as a mourning for what has been lost.

Pluto brings a loss of innocence, an end to the things we once loved. He colors life circumstances with reality, no matter how painful, that cause us to accept what we no longer can deny. This is where true transformation lies.

In my Astro/Tarot readings, I work with Pluto, Demeter, and Persephone together. They reveal struggles with power (Pluto), what we fiercely protect (Demeter), and where we may struggle to assert ourselves or make firm choices (Persephone).

As Aquarius season unfolds, we’re in for more change. Soon, the inner planets will move away from Pluto, offering space to integrate what we’ve learned. The storm’s aftermath—like the ongoing fight against oppressive systems—will require us to work together.

Aquarius is ALL about the people and social initiatives. While ‘icky’, uncomfortable and downright FREEZING, Pluto’s influence at the start of this season shows us what we’re made of. May we all feel inspired to harness our personal strength to influence the world at large.

Aquarius season has arrived, and as expected, things are getting WEIRD ⚡️

As the Sun and all of the inner planets march into this innovative, future-forward sign, we’re being asked to rethink power—how we use it, where we give it away, and how we reclaim it. But before the promise of a new world unfolds, there’s a necessary descent. One by one, these planets meet Pluto, guardian of the unseen, asking us to look beneath the surface and honor what’s been quietly shaping us all along.

It’s almost as if the planets are in a cosmic parade… only to pause and confront Hades before moving forward. Expect moments that feel strangely familiar—old lessons, past patterns, or recurring themes resurfacing not as punishment, but as an invitation to finally close the chapter for good.

ART ANIMISM& THE ASTROS!

This shift has been an exciting one to witness and be a part of. It’s come with a major personal transformation—one that’s been unfolding in my outer world through conscious co-creation with the universe, and simultaneously within me. I’ve been both actively shaping it and standing back in awe, amazed by every twist and turn.

2025 brought understandings and realizations I never saw coming. I started the year with a slew of artistic commissions on my desk that, while enjoyable, often felt like a constant battle. I was yearning for more clarity, more meaning.

So I turned to the cosmos.

I began logging the transiting sky like never before—spending hours each week deciphering energies, deep diving into planets, asteroids, nodes, and angles. With every layer I uncovered, my love of mythology, folklore, and legend grew stronger. I had been doing this work for years but it was like the volume turned all the way up!

Panchita’s World slowly transformed from a place to document my artistic endeavors into a keepsake of these mystical explorations. I’m tremendously grateful for this platform and for this community that came along for the ride. Having a place to hold these discoveries gave physical form to my inner journey.

By the summertime, when I read those early articles back, it became clear: my reality was shifting. I wasn’t just Panchita the artist anymore—I was stepping into Panchita the TEACHER and the MYSTIC.

As the year progressed, I found myself feeling more joy and fulfillment in teaching the artistic skills in clay sculpture I’ve honed, and in guiding both adults and youth toward a deeper understanding of this world—and their place within it.

I began to recognize the cosmic weight of 2025 and the years ahead, and felt my higher self nudging me to share that insight through astrology teaching and readings.

Then came the New Moon in Virgo this August.

While vending at JC Pride, I offered free Astro/Tarot readings—a bite-sized blend of star power and tarot intuition. I gave 18 readings in one day, and in that moment, everything clicked.

My business, Panchita Artista LLC, is now more than a creative house. It’s a space for art, arts education, and guidance through the stars. My goal is to encourage others to be more human—to seek wisdom in the cosmos while keeping their hands in the mud.

I’m deeply thankful for everyone who has supported this work and trusted me with their readings. Since October, I’ve offered 11 full readings and 56 bite-sized readings across five events and private gatherings I’ve been fortunate enough to host and read at.

So yes—Art, Animism, & the Astros is a much more fitting name for the work we’re doing together.

Art — for personal creations and classes, taught both virtually and IRL.

Animism — because everything has energy and consciousness. Every plant, animal, planet, and organism carries purpose, and we are all deeply connected.

And the Astros — because it’s all about STAR POWER, BABY! The universe moves, and in turn, so do we.

And truly… this is just the beginning.

Recent Classes and Creations

This October 2025, I spent four magical weeks diving into mythology through clay, and wow—what a journey it was. Students sculpted three truly remarkable projects: abundant cornucopias, enchanting scarab beetle vases, and the grand finale—their own mythological busts. Characters from Russian, Chinese, and Greek mythology came to life with so much personality and power. I couldn’t resist creating one myself and sculpted a Medusa I am madly in love with. It wasn’t until the holiday season that I found her perfect finishing touch—Mayco’s Teal Agate glaze—and I’m absolutely thrilled with how she turned out.

This week I celebrated my Venus Return—an extra-sweet cosmic moment honoring love, beauty, romance, and the art of creation. Venus always invites us back to ourselves, reminding us that self-care is sacred and self-love is an art form. I couldn’t help but reminisce on my last Venus Return, which magically aligned with my 35th birthday (a true cosmic rarity!) on the stunning island of Culebra in Puerto Rico. As we move through Sagittarius season—the collective activation of our 9th house—we enter a portal where belief isn’t just a concept. It’s creative force! It’s architecture, the invisible hand shaping our reality.

Sagittarius reminds us that belief is powerful enough to bend the laws of the material world. Think of bending a metal spoon with your mind: the metal doesn’t change first—your belief does. Happy Halloween, Samhain, and (my personal fave) Dia De Los Muertos! This is PEAK Scorpio energy. The time of year where we earthlings observe the delicate passing of time, the inevitable cycles of life and honor the loved ones that have come before us.

The phrase ‘the veil is thin’ gets loosely tossed around during this time, easily creating misconceptions and fear around what this energy can present. Yes, you may experience more ‘spooky’ instances, seeing figures out of the corner of your eye or hearing voices when no one is there. Don’t be afraid. Scorpio season is about gaining hidden knowledge and accessing ancient wisdom in service of our growth.

Messages from the great beyond are more easily accessible with the help and protection of our ancestors during this time. Revelations or spiritual downloads may flood in. It’s up to you how you respond. Will you be scared and overwhelmed, call yourself and the experience ‘crazy’, or work with this energy for good.

‘The veil is thin’ means we have the chance to gain knowledge at an accelerated rate from those on the other side. If we move in love and not in fear, what we learn during this time can aid in our personal expansion, help move through a sticky situation, and evolve towards our higher self.

During this holiday weekend, when you see an angel number on the clock or a shadow move past your eye, take note of what you’re thinking, speaking about and/or doing at that moment. There is information to be gleaned.

In this week’s collective read, we dive into the first 10 days of November. A JAM PACKED time of all inner planets changing signs, a full moon, and both Mercury and Jupiter stationing retrograde. The impulse to go, go, go, will be strong, but we likely will face some road blocks that are for the best. Reassessments of agreements and long terms plans are extremely beneficial at this time. By the end of November, it’ll be full speed ahead with our best laid plans.

Student Spotlight

Four weeks flew by in an instant! My mythology themed sculpture class has finished. Students wrapped up the course completing 3 remarkable sculptures. With most of them diving into clay for the first time, I am completely blown away by the beautiful work they created. These items will be glazed over the coming weeks and fully finished. I could not be more proud and inspired.

This week we welcome in new energy, bid adieu to past circumstances, and maybe even see a spirit or two!

-The New Moon in Libra sets the tone for the week, ushering in a fresh 6 month cycle for how we show up in community and for ourselves.

-The veil gets thin as the Sun enters Scorpio (welcome true spooky season!), encouraging deep reflection and metamorphosis, no matter how scary it may be.

-Across the galaxy, Neptune re-enters his domicile of Pisces for the last time in our lives. He’ll be here till January 26, 2026, wrapping up expired story lines that are ready for composting, and helping us dream of new horizons aligned with our aspirations.

The tarot pull for the week encourages using our mental powers wisely as we traverse these new terrains. We hold the reins of our own life, yet a true leader knows they can’t do it all and isn’t afraid to lean on community when needed. With heavy Swords (air) energy, this pull asks us to get real about where we’re holding on to people, places and circumstances that have passed their expiration date. Remember, clearing space and/or a simple ‘no’ opens us earthlings up to a world of possibilities.

Scorpio season is a time when what lies beneath comes to the surface. A time when the truth outs and/or when we may literally be confronted with more creepy crawly creatures than usual.

This past week in my Mythology themed sculpture class, students and I learned about the fascinating Dung Beetle, or more tastefully known as the Scarab.

Perhaps no one knows better than the Scarab the importance of composting, of the necessary clearing out of waste to make room for new life.

Ancient Egyptians held these little guys in HIGH regard, as their daily routine of burying dung back into the soil helped reduce pests, parasites and disease. They saw their efforts of rolling feces as poetic, connecting them with the god of the sunrise, Khepri, who’s believed to push the sun across the sky each day.

The scarab, worn for centuries as amulets and fine jewelry, are symbols of renewal and regeneration. Khepri, who is depicted as a male figure with a scarab for a head, translates to ‘the one who comes into being’ or ‘the one who is transformed’.

This Scorpio season, be like the dung beetle. Get clear about what needs to be cleared to make way for a new day. You only have one life in this form, but you have all the power to shape your own reality.

Libra season rolls on and this week, the sign’s emphasis on our relationships gets an extra shot of espresso as Libra’s ruling planet of Venus enters the sign.

The planet of relationships, art making and pleasure is at home in Libra, a constellation that is all about ‘the other’. Venus’ return here to join the Sun puts a major spotlight on our closest 1 on 1’s, encouraging us to assess how they’re moving in harmony and/or where things may be off balance.

This placement of Venus in Libra is also firing up all the outer planets, from Saturn to Pluto, meaning that our personal world is likely a reflection of the bigger story taking place on a global scale. If a personal relationship or circumstance lacks clarity, seems too good to be true, or has an imbalance of power, it’s time to assess how to find equality, or move on all together.

The Sun’s square to Jupiter in Cancer on Thursday, Oct 16, will bring helpful, uplifting and confident support. Meanwhile the Mars/Mercury conjunction in Scorpio on Sunday will have you thinking strategically, gathering research to back up any argument you may face.

I certainly hope you’ve felt like ‘The one!’ more this week as the Full Moon in Aries arrived on Monday. This fiery moon had no fear taking center stage, her presence was UNDENIABLE! As a Supermoon, it’s estimated she was 14% closer to earth and 30% brighter, meaning her impact was felt much more than usual to our collective.

Named the ‘Harvest Moon’, this lunation encourages us to reap our own harvest, to look back at the last 6 months (since the New Moon in Aries) and how we’ve made strides in our evolution here on earth.

Aries rules the collective first house of self, and as the moon influences our physical bodies, minds and spirits, this Full Moon brings powerful attention to our sense of self and agency we have out in the world. It’s a great time to observe how the way we command a room, stand up for ourselves, set our boundaries and take action towards our goals has changed.

In this week’s Collective Read, I break down how the Full Moon may be playing out for you based on your rising sign - the different areas of life where you may be experiencing heightened action and confidence. I also point out a few other prominent transits this week that (I hope) will bring us some much needed sweetness and nourishment in our journey.

There’s no denying the reflection this moon brings on heavier and heartbreaking matters as she arrived just a day before the observance of Oct 7, 2023. Aries is a sign synonymous with battle and war. As much attention this lunation brings to the self, it puts an unavoidable spotlight on the horrors our fellow earthlings are facing.

‘Your pain is my pain, your joy is my joy. Your children are my children’

The three card tarot pull speaks to the importance of sharing who we are on a micro scale to impact the macro and to do what we can to prevent mental overwhelm in the fight for justice.

Welcome to October! The energy from the September eclipses has finally dissipated and I, for one, am thrilled to now bask in unmitigated Libran energy!

A sign all about the other, Libra invites us to consider all perspectives, to look out for our fellow human and ask the important questions,

‘Is this just? Is this fair? Is this equal?’.

With ruling planet, Venus, next door to Libra in Virgo, our relationships are getting an extra dose of detailed attention and care. Venus in Virgo energy makes plans today so their loved one can thrive tomorrow. Think meal prepping so you don’t have to, cleaned sheets, and/or receiving that thing you mentioned in passing 3 months ago as a gift for no reason at all.

My hope and dream is that this energy pours out not only to our close relationships this season, but the ones miles away as well. That we’re compelled to extend a helping hand in ways that we can to those in need, even if we’ve never met before. Libran energy understands that one’s pain and joy is the pain and joy of all.
