In April, over a thousand of us went to Ridglan Farms — a facility that breeds beagles for experiments — to rescue dogs. We came unarmed. The police met us with pepper spray, tear gas, rubber bullets, and an armored vehicle. I was sprayed and became temporarily blind.

This is my firsthand account, written from a jail cell over the three nights that followed.

I'm one of four activists now facing felony charges — up to 31 years in prison — for the earlier March 15 rescue. Hundreds of dogs are still inside.
