With music by John Cargille.

This is my first of many future conversations to bring new ideas to your inbox and to find and share interesting and important perspectives.

Below you’ll find some backstory, info on future conversations, and some further reading!

Enjoy <3

We sought to interview normal people to ask about their opinions on psychedelics:

Please support me by sharing this post with someone who might find it interesting!

The conference we visited in Denver called Psycon was highly educational and informative. We met tons of passionate people interested in sharing their knowledge and expertise.

We even went as far as to interview a few windmills along our way…

But seriously, we found way more than we expected!

One of my favorite moments of the event was getting to hear Haru Kuntanawa from the Kuntanawa tribe of the Amazon (you can read more about him here) speak on climate change and Ayahuasca. His speech I can only offer a transcription of, since I have an awful recording on my phone. He speaks about the importance of “sacred/spiritual plants” that come from the forests that restore our ability to connect to our spirits — and thereby heal our traumas and reconnect with our natural world.

He spoke about the rapid deforestation of the Amazon rainforest and the quickly drying rivers of the rainforest. It is drier there than it has ever been — and I could feel the urgency in his voice as he spoke about the problem. He claimed that the only way we can overcome this problem is by reconnecting with these sacred plants. He suggests that the answers we seek cannot come from a lab, they have to come from the heart of the very places that are most threatened. The Amazon and the forests.

I will have the opportunity to share this with you soon — and I hope you have enjoyed.

                             Further Reading:

How To Change Your Mind [Thriftbooks] by Michael Pollan — Fantastic book about psychedelics and the research that is currently unfolding. Explores personal experiences along with reports of medical research around PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, and other mental conditions. Pollan explores LSD, Psilocybin, Mescaline, DMT, Ayahuasca. Great starting point for those interested in learning more about psychedelics and the current research — and becoming more informed about the possibilities there are.

How To Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan — Netflix — Documentary with four episodes, a wonderfully produced mini-documentary series with additional information to complement the book — but also a solid standalone.

This Is Your Mind on Plants [Thriftbooks] by Michael Pollan — Great book centering around opium, caffeine, and mescaline. All three psychoactive substances, one of which is the one of the most addictive substance known to man: caffeine. I think we take for granted how many people consume psychoactive substances on a daily basis without realizing that bears many similarities to low dose psychedelics. This book is great to raise questions into our consumption practices and to help understand what we are putting into our bodies.

The Doors of Perception [Thriftbooks] by Aldous Huxley — Recounts Aldous Huxley’s first experience on psychedelics on the substance mescaline. His articulation of the psychedelic state is one that I find fascinating and is one of the only widely available that is so well worded and documented. Worth a read or listen for those interested in understanding the psychedelic state of mind.

Thanks for joining me <3

This is a public episode.
