The ways we relate to our hearts are really going to inform the next couple of meditations also, so I encourage you to be gentle and take some time.

I’d like to share a little from the original post:

We’ve explored the breath and body as well as the mind. How do we feel the connection of these two and now to also feel their connection with the heart?

In this trio, I think the heart can often feel the most guarded, even from its closest allies. It can also be the most tender, especially in times such as these where every news story is a different heartbreak. Even when something is anger-inducing, sometimes what lives beneath the anger is our tender little hearts, maybe wishing for something to be other than it is or recognizing the suffering of a situation.

Today is an invitation to be the with the heart and its many connections, to feel into the tenderness that lives in us always.

I would like to leave you with one of my very favorite quotes from my late teacher:

“It’s so important that we’re paying attention to the condition of our heart... It’s the beginning of your life in every single moment.”

— Michael Stone

Thank you for being here today, friends, and for exploring these connections. 💗 Take care.

✨ Times are available this weekend and beyond to explore more connection in just the way you need. https://makespacemeditation.as.me/

This is a public episode. How are you?

We’ve been talking a lot about quiet in the daily meditations, so tonight I thought we could spend a little time with stillness.

Here’s a little something from the original sharing of this meditation:

Sometimes when things are shifting either in small or big ways, getting still is the last thing that I want to do. Maybe you too? But when I don’t want to find that stillness is when I know that I need it.

That’s not to say we shouldn’t move things through our bodies with actual movement, but that there is a balance we can find between stillness and wanting to run from things.

Stillness can help us see what’s truly going on, to act from a place of choice instead of reactivity. It can be informative. It can soothe some frayed edge feelings.

Of course, if none of this feels like it resonates, today’s meditation is still a lovely exercise in just being right here.

Thank you so much for being here. 💗 Take care.

(This meditation is from the archive. How are you?

Something that I hear often from folks is that consistency with meditation is hard. I hear about things that I really relate to like perfectionism or day to day things that can make it difficult. It’s hard to schedule. It’s hard to get back to. Sometimes the things that are most beneficial to us are the hardest to keep up with. I know.

I’ve been facing a lot of migraines with the seasons changing, so my own consistency here and with my practice has been spotty this week. But the remedy is simple: just keep coming back. It’s what we practice when we do sit. We inevitably get distracted, but we return.

So I hope you’ll return to meditation today if you find yourself somewhere else.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ Don’t forget to schedule a session this week if you need a little care.

This is a public episode. Good morning, friends.

We’re starting a new month together and, as promised, we’re turning our attention back to the foundations of our meditation practice.

This is a great time to begin a regular practice or get back to one. If you have an established practice, I think returning to these foundations can help us let go of what we think our practice should look like. I love to go back to meditation instruction. It allows me to drop the ideas that I know anything and have that beginner’s mind once again. It’s a sweet experience.

Today, we have a short and simple practice to just be with the breath. We spend so much of our time not thinking about it, what’s it like to really sit and be with the flow of the inhale and exhale? There’s no judgment here for distractions. In my own life, there have been a lot of fires lately. Sometimes when this happens, meditation is hard. I admit that my mind is quite full and rarely quiet in my practice. But there is something about sitting that has felt like a respite. Even when the mind is busy, there’s something to sitting in the middle of it and breathing.

Maybe your life doesn’t feel like this today. Maybe you’re feeling pretty chill. However you are arriving today, I hope you find something in the meditation that makes your day a bit better.

A reminder for you that in March (just two days away!) we’re focusing on going back to the meditation foundations and later lovingkindness. How are you?

We’re starting this week off with a bit of quiet, an invitation to be present. In the rush of a Monday, I hope this meditation offers you some space to settle.

As for some news… I mentioned yesterday to the daily subscribers, we’re going to make some shifts for March. We’ll be starting out the month really returning to the basics of meditation. This is an invitation for you to come back to the practice, begin meditation, or to really dig in to the practice you already have. I love going back to meditation instruction and settling into the foundations. I hope you will too.

After spending time there, we’ll move into lovingkindness practice. If you haven’t done this practice before or you have only done it a couple of times, I hope that you’ll really take the time to be with it this coming month.

Of course, if you aren’t already a daily subscriber, I hope you’ll consider becoming one. I’m really looking forward to finding some steadiness with you in March. It’s only a few days away now. How are you?

To settle into this new month, we’re talking about something that I think is a really special feature of meditation practice: beginning again. We do it every time we wander away from the breath and come back. We do it every time we even sit down to meditate.

I hear often about people being “bad” at meditation and something happens where trying again feels impossible. I know I’ve said it so many times here, but just showing up is what matters: showing up to meditate, showing back up when you wander off in distractions. There is no good or bad. There’s no need for judgment. You can rest in knowing that beginning again is possible any time.

So if you’ve been away from meditation or maybe there’s something else in your life that you’d like to begin again, I hope our time together today inspires you to be open to what it can feel like to start and restart however many times you need.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

(This meditation is from the archive. It can be transformative to sit in the middle of what is painful and what we’d prefer to run from. There’s so much going on in the world, in our collective and separate lives. It’s hard to know where to begin.

I know there’s a lot to do in our day to day lives and also with the wider issues at hand. It can be exhausting to simply keep up with the news. So what do we do when that’s the case? I think we have to find ourselves where we are and find ways to resource ourselves.

I had someone ask me recently if the people I’m seeing in sessions and classes are talking about [insert thing here] and what I have found is that mostly people want to recognize the horrors and move into what will help face them. So finding rest, finding healing, finding the breath. Taking action without caring for ourselves can leave us drained.

So tonight’s meditation is for you to find the rest you need. You don’t need permission to rest, but maybe you need some encouragement. It’s okay to take these moments for yourself, to relax, to breathe. It means that in the very next moment, you can be more present.

Thank you for being here today, friends. 💗 Take care.

(This meditation is from the archive. What if we let go of the expectation and let what’s possible unfold?

To me, that feels more spacious than the “knowing” of expectation. It feels more open and a place to breathe. How wild. I never would have expected this year. I have a hard time imagining what the future holds, so it never fails to amaze me where I land. How about you? How do you feel today, at this start of something new?

Our meditation to start the year is one from the archive, as my voice is not yet ready to create. While I’m not grateful to have been sick this past week, I am grateful for the chance to slow down and be still and think about what it is I’d like to bring into this new year.

I’m not saying anything about resolutions today, but intentions. Just as we start many of our months together: what do we want to bring into this moment? Any moment is a chance to shift and begin again, but there’s an energy to a collective moment like this one.

In light of that energy and also in respect to my own abilities, we won’t be taking on The 30 Day Sit this month. Instead, I’d like to offer you something that’s not a resolution or a program or another thing to check off your to do list.

Maybe it’s a shift, an intentional move toward something that you might want: calm, quiet, mindfulness, clarity, focus… insert your word here. So over this next month, maybe we will be quiet and slow, honoring the winter, honoring ourselves without adding one more thing, but inviting it.

If you aren’t already part of the daily meditations subscription, I hope you’ll join me.

May this little meditation be a good start to the year. 💗

Thank you for being here.

(This meditation is from the archive. Perhaps this is not your usual Monday.

I have found myself in both that weird end of year feeling and also the time dictated by an end of the year cold. I don’t know what time it is. I’m waking up at odd hours. It’s a weird time.

But I think that these times, the ones where we find ourselves sort of floating above what the “norm” is for us, are a great reminder that we can come back to something. Good morning!

Today, we find ourselves together on a most auspicious day. In the Zen tradition, this is Bodhi Day, or the day we recognize as when the Buddha became enlightened.

Meditation existed before the Buddha, but his enlightenment was something new. It is said that he sat all through the night, as many practitioners do on this day and then… “At dawn, looking at the morning star, he exclaimed: ‘How wonderful! I and all beings have simultaneously realized the Way.’”

There is, of course, much that came before this day in Buddha’s journey to enlightenment and much came after, but what I hope for you to take away from this (whatever your faith tradition may be or may not be) is that a simple human found a simple practice that helped him and others in a deep way.

So today, in honor of all of this, we sit in the same quiet that the Buddha did, under the same stars.

Thank you for being here today, friends. 💗 Take care.

✨ In honor of Bodhi Day, perhaps it’s a good time to sign up for a mindfulness session or a meditation class? Normally, I would be on retreat, but this year finds me at home and sitting with community online. It’s been quite a bit more meditation each day than is my usual and I fear that this morning I am struck by so many things at once: the vastness of practice, the way that it ripples out from us through so many parts of our lives, the way it can become a full body practice as opposed to just up in our minds.

So today, I put aside trying to say all of that to you in a meditation and opted to find the one I’m sharing today. It offers us quiet and a practice of stillness to help ease the mind. I wonder what you’ll find in it. Maybe it will inspire you to sit a little more too? (If so, we’re sitting on Sunday.)

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

(This meditation is from the archive. So much was happening in that moment that things feel fuzzy, but I remember so clearly the mental image as she described its meaning as a quiet lake.

This morning, that image of the quiet lake is here with me. The calm waters, barely believable in their stillness. We’re not so different from that lake, which inevitably will start to have waves and unexpected visitors. How are you, friends?

In thinking about what to share with you this morning, I was reminded of this moment that I had while making coffee earlier. The little moments are always the one that get me the most, the ordinary and every day things. It’s the care with the water, the coffee, the filter. I felt like I was noticing the texture of the mug differently today. There was a bit of slowing down to notice. It wasn’t about my actions slowing, but my mind.

This seems to me what we practice in meditation. We catch the quiet moments with the breath. Maybe we find a quality to the breath we didn’t notice before. Maybe we are able to find a little space in our minds between the thoughts. All kinds of experiences are possible, even in these ten minutes.

As we spend more time in this space, there’s a little more that comes out of our practice and into other areas of life too. Maybe it’s the coffee or maybe it’s a conversation with a friend where you feel more present. A gift, either way.

Thank you so much for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ Last call for the fall survey. Today, as I was deciding what to share with you, I thought that what was already here feels applicable and worth sharing again.

I hope you find what you need for your Monday…

I know that to say it has been an eventful year so far would be an understatement. Maybe even just for the last few days alone.

To start off this week, we’re spending time checking in with ourselves. We’re with the breath and also all the rest of what’s here in this moment.

Bearing witness (as we do in checking in) is a profound and important act. The Zen Peacemakers know this. It’s the second of their three tenets. The first is Not Knowing. So as we enter into these check-ins, I invite you to be curious. What’s really here? See it as it is, no additions.

The third of the tenets is Taking Action. Sometimes we say Compassionate Action. While it can often feel like a right action is hard to identify, being with what is is already something. Quantum physics teaches us that the observed is changed by the observer without any “action.” What shifts happen simply by being present?

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

(This meditation was originally shared on 06.23.25.)

✨ Availability this week is a bit limited, so don’t forget to schedule your session ahead of time. Here we are again.

Last night, this morning, and other times recently, I’ve been thinking about the feeling of tension and how we can find a space to let some of that go. I even recognized that I was tensing my shoulders while laying in bed last night, asking myself what is that even about? I have my suspicions.

Maybe you feel something similar. Maybe just Mondays bring out a sense of something like getting tense. Maybe your week is holding a lot. Even when we’re looking forward to things, there can be an anticipation there that feels a bit tense. I think a good question to ask is, “do we need to be holding this?”

Today, we’re sensing the tension, finding the way it can flow into something else, something more calm and clear.

Thank you for being here today, friends. 💗 Take care.

This is a public episode. I thought it might be nice to take a little time before the week gets going to find a little quiet, maybe a feeling of stillness.

Perhaps you’re wondering why we talk about quiet so much or practice being in it. There are a lot of reasons for this, but the one I’m thinking about today is that the world and our days can be so, so busy. To be able to sit in the quiet, collect ourselves, find a little space, etc can really make a difference in how your day feels. I think it also makes an impact on how we are with others. If we don’t have a little space, how can we make room to genuinely interact with the people around us?

I could go on, but there are other days for that. For now, I hope you can find that little bit of (or a lot of!) quiet today and that it helps set your day off on the right footing.

Thank you so much for being here. 💗 Take care.

--

✨This week! On 10/12, if you’re local to Columbus, I hope you’ll join me for walking meditation at Highbanks.

✨Coming up! If you’re looking for a little more meditation guidance, there’s an in person introduction to meditation workshop on 10/19. I think the delay is most aptly summed up by: what a time to be alive. 😜

We are here now though, a couple of days into this new month. When we find ourselves at a beginning of some sort, I do love to feel into that new energy and what it might hold. For us together, does it hold consistently showing up to meditation? Does it hold something else you’ve been starting/stopping/starting?

For October, I hope we can feel into this energy throughout the month. Every day is a chance to make a choice. (Every moment, in fact, but that feels like a lot sometimes.) It’s easy to get stuck into a way of looking at something or a way of showing up (or not). In the case of meditation practice, if you’ve been wanting to show up, every day you get a brand new choice to do so. Nothing has to be attached to that except what you decide that day.

I’m glad you decided to be here today. I hope to see you tomorrow.

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

✨ If you’re in need of a little care this weekend, there’s a time with your name on it, I know it. We’ll see how things go.

We’re winding down the month and so maybe intentions are on my mind. I have a lot of ideas for October and what I’d like it to hold. But that’s still a couple of days away, so I find myself asking what I’d like today to be like? Not just what I’d like to or need to get done, but what would I like the day to feel like? Something that’s not connected to my productivity necessarily, but something more internal than that.

So that’s our offering today: we’re with the breath and finding a little intention for our week ahead.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ Whether it’s finding more time with the breath, a space to relax, or a little support, I hope you’ll find time for an online or in person session this week.

This is a public episode. How are you? How’s your week been?

Letting go is one of those themes that we come back to regularly. I know in my life, I could use a reminder to take the exhale and let something go. So I offer that as a reminder to you today also.

We carry so many things in our days and lives. Sometimes we don’t need to. I remember talking with my teacher last year about this idea of holding something (witnessing it, holding space for it, etc) versus carrying it. I do not need to carry a heavy weight of something around with me. I can take the exhale, recognize what’s happening, recognize the thing that’s too heavy, and let the weight go. Even just a little is nice.

Maybe you don’t relate to what I’m saying here, but maybe there’s something else for you today with the exhale. Maybe there’s a feeling in your body that could shift, some other thing in the mind.

Let’s see what’s here together.

Thank you for being here today, friends. 💗 Take care.

💫 To explore the exhale a little more, find a space of letting go, or just a little care, there are are times available this weekend for online or in person sessions. How is your day so far?

We often come back around to the idea of possibility at the beginning of the week or month, even the day. I know that it can be really easy to get sort of stuck in our expectations of what things will be like rather than being open to what they could be like.

And what’s the fuss about being open? Even if things do happen exactly as you expect, I think we leave behind a lot of possibilities that way. We so often find what we seek instead of allowing for things to unfold as they might. This is not a call to inaction, but a call to drop a little knowing and let the world surprise you. There’s a lot of possibility out there if we stay open to it.

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

✨✨✨ Don’t forget to schedule a little care for yourself this week. Even the difference that you can make in a person’s day by seeing them. It’s easy sometimes to not really look at the parking attendant or not engage with the person at the store’s register. Lots of people don’t. If you’ve ever worked jobs like these, you know.

I had an interaction with a nurse at the doctor’s office the other day that got me thinking a bit about this. She had to help me with something sort of complicated and thanked me for being kind with her. How many times are people rude to this nurse? Or they don’t engage with her?

So I’m hoping today after you’ve sat with this idea of calm presence, maybe you consider what it is to be the person who is present, who does see and shows kindness. We miss these (some might say small) really human one on one interactions with each other so often. What if we didn’t?

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

--

✨ Times are available this weekend for a little more calm and presence if you need. Welcome back to Monday.

Whether your day has started out just as you expected or things have already gone off the rails, we’re sitting with ease today.

I often think about how our expectations really influence both our experiences and the outcomes. How are you?

Sometimes I find myself believing that I know something. I know what comes next or I know what this person is going to do or I know what the day is going to be like. Then it turns out I don’t know anything and things have gone awry. Have you had this experience of thinking that you know?

Today, we’re working with expectations and letting them go. It’s not an easy thing. It seems like the world around us really pushes us to know. We should have an opinion on everything and an idea of how things “should” be.

What if we did let some of our expectations go and allowed the moment to unfold? Not in a way that means inaction, but a way that allows for openness. This is what we’re holding a bit of this today in our meditation.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ This weekend has limited availability for sessions, but I still hope to see you. Whether you’re feeling a little of that or not, finding a kind of steadiness at any point in the day I think feels nice.

Today, that’s what we’re holding in our practice: finding a little steadiness, finding that still point in the breath that can act as an anchor. How are you?

This morning I’m thinking about what kind of day and week I’d like to have. What do I want things to feel like?

My usual answer is some form of quiet and ease, which are two things we hold a bit of in our meditation today. When I say that, I don’t mean that things are just quiet and easy the whole time (though sometimes that is nice). What I really mean is that I can meet the day, the week, the moment, with an internal sense of quiet and ease. It’s easy to spend a lot of time in a heightened state between the news, scrolling, life’s every day stresses, etc.

What is it to cultivate a little quiet in ourselves so that we can meet each of these things a little easier? Maybe we’ll find a little of that today, or perhaps you’ll find something else that you need.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

--

✨ There are some new times available for reiki, mindfulness, and support session. If you’ve wandered away from meditation, been intimidated to start, or you’re not just sure what’s going on, today is especially for you.

I hear often from folks that they’d love to have a steady practice but once they miss a day or feel like maybe their mind is too busy, they drop away. It’s hard to keep things going! I struggled for a long time to have a regular practice.

Unlike how it may feel at times, some of the real magic in meditation comes from beginning again. We begin again with each breath and realizing each distraction: an opportunity every time. This is the space where a gentle quiet can start to find its way to even the busiest of minds. We’re not shutting things off, but we’re finding space.

I hope you’ll spend some time with this meditation today, whenever it might find you. And I hope to talk to you again tomorrow.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ Opportunities to talk about meditation, rest with a little reiki, or experience support are available this weekend and beyond. Monday!” But what if it was just that: a story? What if we could change the story if it isn’t working for us? Maybe we’re not changing it straight to something about how Monday is the very best, but maybe it’s just a shift of perspective to allow for some possibility.

Stories aren’t necessarily bad. Sometimes they’re helpful. I think one of the gifts of meditation is allowing us to see these stories and determine if it’s helpful, making a change if it isn’t.

This is the back drop of our meditation today: just allowing ourselves to see what’s here when it arises. Maybe we find a story and we get to choose to keep it or let it go. But most importantly: we get to choose instead of being washed away into the story itself.

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

✨ If you’d like to explore more about stories, I hope you’ll find a little time for the session that feels right to you. https://makespacemeditation.as.me/

This is a public episode. But every breath can be something that brings us back. When I’ve been on retreat, it’s the thing I most come away with: a sense of connection and care for everything. I don’t think it’s coincidence that theme keeps arising. I think retreat is what I need to remember sometimes.

This moment is full of connection and we don’t need to go away on retreat to find it. What’s here with the breath? Good morning.

In the daily meditations, we’ve been exploring lovingkindness and so connection has been on my mind a lot lately. It’s also a new week (if you have a traditional schedule) and how do we really prepare ourselves for what’s ahead?

Today’s meditation is bringing us to the breath so that we can find maybe a bit of foundation for the week ahead. There also some other themes here: connection, kindness. What is it to not just practice being with the breath, but also being kind to ourselves when our minds wander? How does that move out from our meditation and into the world?

I hope you’ll be open and curious with all of it today. (If you’re not part of our daily meditations and would like to be, I hope you’ll find consider subscribing.) We’re continuing that practice today.

I think that beginning our practice of lovingkindness with ourselves before moving on to others helps us to do what can be so difficult in so many ways: care for ourselves. We are not talking about a selfish act, but one that helps us grow and allows us to connect more deeply with others as we move through this practice. It is so easy to neglect our own needs, to not listen to ourselves. But you are worthy to be cared for and listened to and I hope you feel that a bit today if you haven’t been lately.

Tomorrow, we’ll finish up our time with the focus on ourselves with a bit of an extended practice. We’ll then move into our next focus: our loved ones.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ Did you know there’s a Lovingkindness class every Sunday? It’s true. How is your day?

We're spending time over the next few days exploring what it is to slow down. If you feel like life has you going and going and going and… then these meditations are going to be especially for you. If you feel like your mind can’t slow down during meditation (or otherwise), I hope you’ll also explore how having this intention might help.

Slowing down is not about any kind of forcefulness. Instead, it’s a steady and gentle process of feeling into it: noticing tension and letting it go, noticing the way you feel rushed and what it feels like to relax, and so on. How has your week been?

Today’s meditation is one I think I needed this morning myself.

✨ A new month is almost upon us, which means new classes are coming. Happy Monday.

We started bringing in this sense of invitation last week with the idea of beginning a meditation practice or beginning again. We’ve moved through a couple of other invitations, all to help you explore the practice a little bit.

Today, we’re focused on slowing down. You might think about your day and the week ahead and think maybe there’s a lot to do or a feeling of being behind already. Whether you’re in that space or an entirely different one, I really hope that these ten minutes of breath and being still can help you slow down. And I hope this sense of slowing down brings in a little more presence and focus when you need it. I know for myself when I feel rushed or stressed or like there’s a lot going on, sometimes the best thing I can do is step back and breathe.

I hope it’s a good day, friends.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ May’s classes really get going this coming weekend. One of the things about meditation that can feel like opportunity or very much the opposite is when we get distracted. I know from my own experience how discouraging it can feel to find out just how loud or busy our minds can be. It doesn’t have to be a negative though.

The very act of beginning again with each distraction we discover is full of possibility. I really believe that. It’s the possibility to know ourselves and our minds a little better. It’s also an opportunity to be gentle with ourselves and let go of judgment. No matter how many times we find ourselves wandering away from focus, we can have this open place to start anew.

Often folks tell me that they’re “bad” at meditation because they can’t get their minds clear of thought. Your mind is going to work itself through. It’s what minds do. It’s our response to it, the willingness to begin again, that makes the difference. Slowly but surely, you’ll feel a shift in that busy/distracted mind.

I hope you’ll explore with me today and be gentle with yourself and your mind.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ If you missed yesterday’s newsletter about things coming this month, you can find it here. How is your day?

We’ve spent the week looking at connection and today we’re focused on one that can be a bit tricky: other people.

I went searching this morning for a quote or bit of wisdom to offer you to go along with our meditation. I landed on a simple classic from Father Greg Boyle. You may have heard me talk about Father Greg before or know of him yourself. He’s a Jesuit priest who founded Homeboy Industries, the largest gang rehabilitation program in the world. He talks a lot about our connections to each other. To me, listening to Father Greg just opens my heart up and helps me to find that space (if you’d like to listen to him also, this is one of my favorites). One thing he says often is simply, "we belong to each other.” And he means it: no one is left out.

So today’s meditation is an exploration of belonging and connection, not just to the people you know or people you like, but to each and every one of us. The barista who makes your coffee, the person at the grocery checkout, the driver who cuts you off, the unhoused person you pass every day, and so on. We’re all here and we belong to each other. What does it feel like to sense into and recognize our connections, both here in this meditation and throughout the day?

This connection in particular is not always an easy one to hold, so I hope you will be easy on yourself, stay connected with the breath, and just be open to what’s here.

Of note: our meditation is a bit longer and bit more “talky” today. So if you’re looking for something on the quieter side right now, perhaps this one is for you.

Thank you so much for being here. 💗 Take care.

Interested in going deeper these connection explorations? I invite you to find a little time for a session or class that feels supportive.

It means so much to me that you're here. How are you?

We’re continuing our theme of connection today, focusing on the mind.

I am thinking of a podcast from Michael Stone that I listened to recently where he shares that it’s a “fascinating thing to watch when you’re sitting… how the breath really responds to the state of the mind.” He goes on to say “if you try to work with your mind to relax your mind, you tend to just create more mind loops…” but if you move to working with your breath and “you really start to settle your breathing, your mind also will start to settle.”

We’re exploring the body and mind connection today, expanding on yesterday’s meditation. At the same time, I also want to recognize that the mind informs so much of our lives an interactions with the world. The state of the mind impacts how we interact with other connections around us. What is here when we get curious about how our mind impacts not just our breathing, but how we speak to someone else or ourselves, for instance? So much to explore here. I hope this meditation is just the beginning.

I also hope that you’ll join me for the rest of this week’s exploration of connection too by considering becoming a daily meditation subscriber. (As with all my offerings, if this is outside your current means, please feel free to reach out. No one is turned away.)

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

This is a public episode. How are you?

We’re working with connection in all the places that it shows up today. I’m going to let this meditation speak for itself as there’s a little bit more talking up front, but I want to be clear that maybe connection isn’t what resonates with you today. Maybe there is something adjacent or maybe just finding the openness to see if something is here you didn’t expect.

Some of meditation’s most impactful benefits sort of sneak up on us sometimes, I think. We find them at the grocery store when we’re waiting in line and we’re feeling more patient. We see it in the way we’re more present for friends and conversations. It feels sometimes like there’s a lot of barriers to meditation in terms of expectations, so we lay those aside too as much as we’re able. What we’re left with is just us, the breath, and this flow of our mind’s wandering off and returning. And that’s just it: it’s a flow. If your mind was a river, you wouldn’t get mad at the waves for their direction, but you’d find the way to navigate them. So we do together today with a little quiet.

I hope this meditation is just the one you need today.

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

✨ Don’t forget to sign up for class this weekend or schedule a session to support your week. https://makespacemeditation.as.me/

It means so much to me that you're here. How are you?

I’m finding myself a little speechless this morning. I’ve had a weird week. How’s your week been? Busy? Maybe also weird?

Today, we’re finding the possibility of stillness and quiet in the middle of all that’s happening around us. I like this sense of a still point because I think it allows us to take in more of what’s going on. It can also help leave space to check in with ourselves. There’s so much to take in and to do, what is it to stop moving for a few moments and just be here with what is?

Whatever your week has held, I hope this meditation helps you to find a point of quiet, maybe even a little rest for your body and mind in this practice of being still.

Thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

✨ Walking meditations and Sunday evening sits are back in April. I hope that whatever today holds for you, it is only good things.

We’re spending time with the exhale today, feeling into the sense of letting go. What is there to let go of? Maybe it’s something like perfectionism (which we talk about here) or maybe there’s something else, something that needs the shift an exhale can bring.

When I hear people talk about meditation, sometimes I hear the drive for perfect in their questions or thoughts. There’s so much “I’m bad at meditation” sentiment when really the showing up is what matters, just like the return to the breath is what matters in this meditation regardless of how many times we wander away from it.

Maybe that feels like a lot to think about today, so you’re also welcome to just be and let the exhale guide you.

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

__

It means so much to me that you're here. Good morning.

This morning, I can’t help but find myself thinking about everything. You know, the everything going on. Maybe it’s not just the everything in the world, but also in your life.

More and more, I find myself having a difficult time being in a reactionary space. There’s a lot of immediate gratification in the social media cycle of outrage, for instance. And while I don’t suggest we aren’t outraged, don’t react, or that an emotion you feel about a particular thing isn’t valid, I do think about this return to quiet.

In this case, the quiet is like a check in. What’s really here? What am I really feeling? What’s the right next action? Instead of the immediate reaction, there’s a curiosity and a space to choose. It doesn’t deny the reality of any situation, but asks us to maybe find the ground first.

Today, we’re practicing this little bit of being quiet in the middle of all the things. I hope it helps you take a breath today.

✨ To help find a litlte quiet, I have extended availability for reiki, mindfulness, and support sessions this week. Whether in person or online, I hope you’ll schedule some time.

As always, thank you for being here. 💗 Take care.

It means so much to me that you're here. Maybe this is you or maybe you've had a chill morning. Whatever your experience of the morning might be, there is something to bringing an intention of ease into times that feel just the opposite. Even in meditation, I know it can feel difficult to sit or difficult to be with what's here, but allowing even the intention to sort of infiltrate might change things up a little.

I think this is true for when we think something is difficult or bad like a Monday morning. A little over ten years ago, I had a break up that left me feeling some kind of way (as they do, I'm sure you know). I remember the weekend that it happened, I just stared at my phone playing games for hours. I started to stack my schedule full of activities. I was the busiest I could be. And that trend lasted a long time. There's always more to do or learn, always a place to be.

It's taken some unwinding over the years to recognize the avoidance that that type of schedule promoted for me. It is still a lot of work to slow down or to not overbook my schedule in some way, not get sucked into the go go go of things. I don't think our minds and systems were meant to live that way. Just being here is enough.

Today, I offer you these few minutes to find a little space of slowing down if you need it. Maybe even to just see what it feels like if you too have been so busy.

✨ I hope your weekend holds rest and a little slowing down. There are times available this weekend to help do just that.

Thank you for being here, friends. 💗 Take care.

This is a public episode.
