Since this series began, something has been stirring. Not just on this channel. Not just through the work of Save the Parish. But in the comments sections, in PCC meetings, and now in the letters pages of the national press.

Last week the Daily Telegraph published four letters about the state of the Church of England. Four people, from four different counties, writing independently, saying what three videos in this series have been building toward. And two of those letters come from people in my own deanery — two miles from this parish.

At the recent GAFCON gathering in Abuja, leaders announced the formation of a Global Anglican Council, a new structure intended to strengthen cooperation between provinces committed to historic Anglican teaching. For some, this is simply organisational reform. For others, it represents a deeper question about authority, unity, and the future of the Anglican Communion.

In this podcast, I look at what was actually announced in Abuja, why GAFCON leaders believe change is necessary, and how this moment relates to wider conversations across the Communion about doctrine, discipline, and leadership.

We will also explore the broader context. At the same time as GAFCON has been meeting, the Anglican Consultative Council has been considering the Nairobi–Cairo proposals, which explore reforms to the Communion’s structures and the role of Canterbury. Two different responses to the same crisis are unfolding at the same time.

For ordinary Anglicans sitting in the pews, the question is not about institutional politics but about something much more important:Will the global Anglican church remain rooted in the authority of Scripture and the historic faith once delivered to the saints?

This was not a final theological settlement. It was the end of one synodical phase and the beginning of another. The debate has not disappeared. It has shifted form.

Much was said about unity, care, listening, safeguarding, and healing. And much of it was said sincerely.

But moments like this also teach us by what is left unsaid.

In this podcast, I reflect carefully on the language used in those interviews before the confirmation, the themes that were emphasised, and the quiet absence many faithful Christians felt. This is not about motives, personalities, or outrage. It is about what the Church names at moments of direction-setting, and why the gospel of Jesus Christ cannot simply be assumed.

In this video I walk through what the Church Commissioners are proposing, why there has been a fresh wave of concern from MPs and peers as Sarah Mullally becomes Archbishop of Canterbury, and how we think about all of this biblically as Christians who care about both justice and the life of the local church.

We look honestly at the Church’s mixed history. Some wealth was entangled with the great evil of the transatlantic slave trade, and honesty and lament matter. But we also remember the abolitionist legacy within Anglicanism, and the faithful parish ministry that continues today across our nation in communities that are often stretched and struggling.

My aim is not to stir outrage, but to think carefully about repentance, stewardship, justice, and the gospel. What does it mean to handle the Master’s money for the Master’s purposes? And how do we respond wisely as the Faithful Remnant, without denial and without ideology?

In this video I look carefully at what the King said, why the language matters for the gospel, and how we hold together two things at once: genuine thankfulness whenever Christ is named truthfully, and a longing for clearer witness to the uniqueness of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

This is not about judging the King’s heart. It is about public witness and theological clarity. Scripture reminds us that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). So we think carefully, we speak truthfully, and we keep our hope centred on Christ, the true King whose Kingdom cannot be shaken.

All three have backed the Church of England’s decision to allow blessings for same-sex couples, so their appointment would likely mean that direction continues. For some this is a sign of inclusion; for others it raises deep theological concerns.
